He retired in 1959 from the New England Telephone Co. where he had been employed for more than 36 years as a line foreman. He also had been a cattle dealer in Bar Mills for many years and was very active in that area in real estate development. Mr. Eaton had been active in civic affairs in the Buxton area, having served on the Buxton school board and a member of the Buxton Historical Society. He was a member of Dunlop Lodge, AF - AM in Biddeford. He served as a deputy sheriff in York County. Mr. Eaton and his wife, the former Margaret Stover, were married in June of 1927. Surviving besides his widow are three sons, David C. of Bryn Mawr, Pa., Frank F. of Hampton, N.H., and James L. of Rockport; three daughters, Joan C, Youngof Birmington, England, Ruth L. Mrs. Harry Stephens, in Enhaut. The services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry G. Miller, 911 South Ninth street. The Rev. Dr. Kieffer, pastor of the Oberlin United Brethren Church, officiated. Mr. Moyer, was a member of Company H, One Hundred and Thirtieth Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Elsie Hart, Mrs. Harry B. Stephens, Mrs. Harry G. Miller and Harry B. Moyer; two brothers, George and John Moyer, and two sisters, Mrs. David Kaufman, of New Cumberland, and Miss Lizzie Moyer, of Harrisburg." Solomon served in Co. H, 130th PA Volunteer Infantry, mustered in 12 August 1862 and mustered out 21 May 1863, and reenlisting in 1864.

"Scruggs Genealogy," Ethel Hastings Scruggs Dunklin (NY: LaPlante & Dunklin Printing Co., 1912) reports "Gross Scruggs, son of Jesse Scruggs was bom in Virginia. He served in the Revolutionary War, enlisting as private under General Anthony Wayne. At the close of the war he returned with General Wayne, and the militia belonging to the upper counties of Georgia, to their Headquarters at Ebenezer, April 22, 1782. He married twice; first, Annie Keith Hale, by whom he had issue: 1. Frederick. 2. William, located in Georgia. 3. Mary. Gross Scruggs married, for his second wife, Margaret Earle of Georgia, by whom he had issue: (1.) Gross, born February 10, 1790. (2.) Jesse. (3.) Margaret."
