"Robert Avery of Pill (now Pylle) was a yeoman who tilled his own land. He had three sons - William, Richard,and Thomas. He died before OCT,1575. William the oldest son of Robert had one son, Robert, This Robert is the Robert of Workingham and he was the father of Dr. William of Dedham. Robert of Workingham, Perkshire was a blacksmith, married to Joanne ------, and had three children: William (Dedham) born in 1622, Robert, and Frances. Dr. William came to Dedham in 1650 with his wife Margaret and three children -- Mary, William, and Robert. These were the only children of Dr. William and Margaret born in England. Children born to Dr.William and Margaret:
1. Mary- Dec. 19, 1645 in Barkham. She married Nov. 5, 1666 to James Tisdale of Taunton, Mass and they lived in Middleboro, Mass. She died Sept. 9, 1713,age 68. He died Jan. 15, 1715, age 71.

"Dr. William lived in Dedham till 1679, then moved to Boston and was a bookseller. His shop was located near the Blue Anchor in 1679. This is now the location of the Boston Globe Newspaper. The homestead in Dedham was occupied till about 1893 by his descendants. Margaret died Sept. 28, 1678. Dr. William married his second wife, Mary (Woodmansey) Tapping, daughter of Robert Woodmansey. Dr. William died Mar. 18, 1686, age 65. His tombstone stands in Kings Chapel in Boston; the stone does not stand in its original location as vandals moved many of the stones. Mary died May 21, 1707, age 78.

[56013] Richard's obituary: "Tremont - Richard B. 'Dick' Hamblen, 90, died at Mount Desert Island Hospital after a six month decline in his health. He lived at home until two days before his passing on February 22, 2024. He was born at the family home in Tremont, Maine on March 16th, 1933, the ninth child of Evelyn (Pomeroy Rich) and Charles A. Hamblen. Dick graduated from Pemetic High School in 1952, having been part of the drama and baseball clubs. He then went to southern Maine technical college in Portland Maine, until he was drafted. Having come from Maine, he became part of the Cold Weather training Command at Fort Collins, Colorado. Having never been on skis in his life, he learned and then taught others how to ski. In the summer he was part of the mountain climbing and repelling group. He left two years later to go home and marry, Joan Doyle from Bar Harbor, daughter of Edward and Madeline (Silk) Doyle. Four years later, they moved to Pepperell, Mass. He worked as a plumber for several big firms, before starting his own business called Classic Kitchens. During this time, he shared a small plane and would fly home every once in a while, and bring home lobsters to the family as his mother was getting older, he asked her to come live with them and their growing family. Eventually, the family moved back to Tremont. He constructed an apartment on the second floor of his mother's house, which included a kitchen and a bathroom. Working with his brother Everett, they built several houses together. The remaining brother and sister's family would often get together for family times. Joan and Dick were part of a group called the Good Timers who would get together for dancing and good laughs. His daughters all married during this time. His mother continued to live downstairs until her death in 1973. Eventually he worked with his son, Rick doing house construction and plumbing. Joan passed away in1997 and Dick continued to live with his son, Rick. In 2004, Ruth (Carlson) Davis came into his life, having been widowed about two years earlier. They settled in Ruth's home with her teenage sons, Andrew, and Steven. There were many happy cruises with both families and friends. His daughter, Susan, and son-in-law Reggie would take Dick on extended drives during the summers. Three dogs and numerous cats lived with us through the years accompanying him on his trips to Seawall. The Franklin Trading post was a particularly favorite spot for Ricky and Dicky to go for breakfast. When the last dog died, (Mr. Waddles) in 2022, Dick was without a driving companion. Very good friends then asked if we could take care of and then adopt Lulu, a 13-year-old Papillion. She was beside him on the many days when he would drive down to Seawall and eat at Charlotte's. Eventually, Ruth, Lulu and he would take Sunday afternoon drives around different parts of Maine. Family was Dick's anchor. The last evening, with all of us surrounding his bed, he blew us all a kiss and said 'I love you all.' Dick is survived by Ruth Davis and her sons Andrew Davis and Steven Davis and wife Cara; three daughters, Susan Lizzotte and husband Reggie of Bangor, Laurie Anne Bragdon and husband Merle of Prescott, Arizona and Nicole Strout of Tremont ; granddaughter, Katie Hessert and husband Josh of Glenburn and grandson Nathan Lizzotte; six great grandchildren, Samantha, Madeline, Olivia, Jonathan, Abigail and Nicholas. He had many nieces and nephews, but he was the last of this Hamblen generation. He was also predeceased by his son, Rick."

In 1718 he sold a part of his father's estate to his brother John. At that time he was living in Wells, Maine, where he had removed about 1700. He married there first, December 16, 1701, Hannah Cussins; he married second, October 21, 1742, Elizabeth Burnham. Children: 1. Lydia, born December, 1702; married, November, 1726, Joseph Stevens. 2. Hannah, born June 20, 1705; married, June 10, 1727, John Stevens. 3. George, mentioned below. 4. John, married, October 30, 1745, Deborah Ware. 5. Another unverified file in Ancestry.com in 2010 offers: "George Jacobs was born about 1617, probably in England, and was farming near Salem, MA, by the 1640s. He and his wife attended church infrequently, and he was known for his 'salty tongue' and quick temper. He was in court in 1677 for striking a man while in a rage. George was accused by his own granddaughter of practicing witchcraft, and arrested on May 10, 1692. He went on trial August 5, and after failing to properly recite the Lord's Prayer (George was illiterate), he was found guilty. On conviction he stated, 'Well burn me or hang me. I'll stand in the truth of Christ.' George and four others met their ends on Gallows Hill two weeks later. His last words were, 'I am falsely accused. I never did it.' In 1693 George's widow Mary married a man who had been widowed by the witch trials, and in 1711 the General Court of MA made reparations of 79 pounds to the heirs of George Jacobs. George's family buried his body on his farm, and some of his descendants, still living on the site, unearthed his remains in 1864, and found a tall arthritic toothless skeleton. His remains were taken to Salem in 1992, and reburied as part of the ceremony marking the 300th anniversary of the trials."
