[9340] "The Times [Streator, Illinois]," 16 November 1945, p. 4: "John H. Wormley, 85, lifelong resident of Ransom, and whose parents John and Elizabeth Wormiey were among the pioneer settlers in Allen township, died suddenly in his home at 3 oclock yesterday afternoon of a heart attack. He is survived by one brother, Jonathon R. Wormiey, and one nephew, Adren V. Wormiey, both of Ransom. The decedent was never married. Mr. Wormiey was born May 5, 1860, on the Wormley homestead, a half mile south of Ransom, and had spent his entire life in that community. His parents had located there in 1851, emigrating from Pennsylvania. The decedent engaged in farming as a young man, retiring about 40 years ago when he became interested in farm commercial work, in the way of well drilling and machinery repairs."
