[46041] "The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 10 March 1926," p. 3: "Mrs. Leah Drexler Keck, widow of the late Ellas Keck, of Kennedy's Valley, died at the home of her at the home or her niece, Mrs. Harry Corman, in Kennedy's Valley, on Thursday, March 4th, after a lingering illness from a complication of diseases. Mrs. Keck was a daughter of the late Daniel and Susan Drexler, of Tyrone township, and was of a family of eight, all of whom have passed to the spirit world. Mrs. Keck was a kind mother, friend and neighbor and will be missed by all who knew her. She came to the home of her niece early last fall and was tenderly cared for by Mrs. Corman during her last illness. Mrs. Keck was the mother of the following children: Jesse Keck, of Cumberland county; Daniel, deceased; Luther; Minnie, (Mrs. John Dunkleberger) deceased; Rosa, widow of the late D. W. Dunkleberger, of Churchtown, Cumberland county; Annie, (Mrs. George Morrison) of Carlisle; Florence, (Mrs. Robert Foster) and Alice, (Mrs. William Foster) of Duncannon. The funeral was held from the home of Charles Kell on Saturday at 1 o'clock, with services in Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, and burial was made in churchyard adjoining." "The News Item, 10 November 2016" offers: "Sophia Yasalonis, 91, of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at Thornwald Home in Carlisle.
Sophia was born May 8, 1925, in Coal Township, a daughter of John and Johanna (Juarz) Kanowicz. Sophia graduated from Coal Township High School in 1942. Following graduation, she worked for the nearby Eagle Silk Mill. Sophia dedicated her life to her family and loved being a mother and wife. She was a devoted partner to her husband of 58 years, John J. Yasalonis, and showered her children with love, support and the teachings of her faith. She used her gift of hospitality by opening her home to family and friends alike for every family celebration. She helped those in need, comforted those who mourned, prayed fervently for others, served friends and strangers alike and loved all. Sophia enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. Being a college football fan, she often spoke of and provided statistics for her beloved Penn State football team. One of Sophia's greatest pleasures was sending and receiving thousands of greeting cards over the years to all of her relatives and friends. She always included a custom drawn picture of flowers and hearts to brighten their day. She is survived by four sons, John W. Yasalonis and his wife, Josephine, of Bel Air, Maryland, Steven J. Yasalonis and wife, Kathy, of Enola. Michael J. Yasalonis and wife, Susan, of Camp Hill, and Alan Yasalonis and his wife Nancy, of Yardley; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews. A long-time matriarch, she is preceded in death by her parents and all 13 of her siblings; and by her husband, John."
