She was born Dec. 2, 1911 in West Sedgwick, the daughter of John and Nellie Grindle. Helen was a member of the Brooksville Goodwill Club and the Rainbow Rosier Grange. She also was an avid seamstress and fisherman. Helen was loved by all and the best mother grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law anyone could have. Her husband, Carl L. Closson, predeceased her in 1974. She is survived by her six children, Barbara Carlow and her husband, Roger of Lincoln, Patricia Black and her husband, Ernest of Brooksville, John Closson and his wife, Linda of Brooksville, Jane Hale and her husband, Donald of Sargentville, Tinny O'Rourke of Cumberland, Md., Richard Closson and his wife, Sherrianne of Brooksville; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews."

She was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Jeromesville to Iler and Fern (Hootman) Rush and was a life long resident of the area. Mrs. Sigafoos was retired from J.C. Penney Co. after 30 years of service. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Lexington Sr. Citizens. Surviving are one son William Sigafoos of Mansfield; one daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Tom Conley of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Stephen Kesselring of Panama City, Florida, Deborah Blanton of Ocala, Florida, Valarie Kesselring of Milton, Florida, Lynda Henderson, Mark Sigafoos, Kimberly Hout and Matt Sigafoos all of Mansfield; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband William, a son Loyd, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, conducted by her pastor Rev. Gary Porietti, where friends may call starting at noon. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park."

[10607] Neil Ungerleider (http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/u/n/g/Neil-Ungerleider-MA) reports: "Occupation: Millman in 1850 and Sea Captain. Note: In Penobscot at 1850, $500 in real estate. The following is found in Genealogy of the Wardwell Family, written by Ralph S. Wardwell in 1943 (typescript): 'Samuel Wardwell was a very successful sea captain in his adulthood. He also served three times as the Representative from Penobscot to the Massachusetts General Court. Upon his death in 1858, aged 84 years, he was survived by his wife and five of his 10 children. His home in Penobscot, the so-called 'Polly Banks House', was situated at what is now called 'Witherle Park', the cellar and foundation which may now be seen about 300 feet in a northerly direction from the so-called large basin of the Castine Water Company. Captain Samuel apparently left his wife financially secure after his death, because she moved to Castine and there occupied the house which was situated on the northwest side of Water Street between the house now owned by Lelland Mixer (the old Dunham house) and the property now owne by Ermo Scott.'"
