Metzler, 86, of United Zion Home, Lititz, formerly of Paradise R1, died Sunday at 11:45 p.m. at the home where he had resided for the past five years. Death followed an illness of seven months. He was the husband of the late Myrtle V. Shoemaker Metzler and the late Betty White Metzler. He was a member of Calvary Independent Church. A retired farmer and carpenter, he was formerly employed by the late Steven Esh. He was born in Salisbury Township, a son of the late Christian and Mary Hershey Metzler. He is survived by the following children: A. Elizabeth, wife of Witmer Groff, Naples, Fla.; Genevieve M., wife of George Kramer, Kinzers R1; Elmer S., Paradise R2; Robert J., Leesport, Mary Ellen, wife of Charles Donley, Rothsville; Elva Dorothy, wife of Roy S. Bechtold, Lancaster; and Janet J., wife of James Graybill, Paradise R1; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Annie Houck, Landis Homes, Lititz, and Mary Leman, Ronks R2; and one brother, Isaac Metzler, Landisville."
