[43438] See "Ancestors of a 21st century British family" at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com in 2017 which states: "The family of Hamon were early converts to Protestantism. They came from the Loire region and several parts of Normandy and were also found prior to the Revocation in the Channel Islands. When the persecution of the Huguenots began, Queen Elizabeth sent help to the Islands, partly because they were considered to be Crown property, and their defences were inadequate. In 1563 the Island of Sark was uninhabited, so in order to defend the other islands it was colonised, and several Hamons went there, including Thomas Hamon about 1567 where the name is still to be found. In due course Hamons went to Ireland, where they are found in Dublin and Portarlington [where Isaac died.], some went to America and some in 1855 to Australia.
