[7430] "The Sentinel [Carlisle, Pennsylvania], 20 February 1976," p. 6: "George M. Briner, 93, 126 Parker St., Carlisle, died Thursday morning in Carlisle Hospital. Mr. Briner was born Jan. 11, 1883 in New Bloomfield and was married to the late Mrs. Rachel Weidman Briner who died Sept. 11, 1957. He was a sales representative for Scott Foresman and Co., N.Y., retiring in 1949. He had been a teacher in Carlisle High School for ten years, and was principal for seven years. He was a member of Cumberland Star Lodge No. 197 F&AM, the Odd Fellows Lodge, and Kappa Sigma Fraternity, having received a 50-year membership award from all of those organizations. He was also a mmber of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Sons of Veterans, and was a graduate of Shippensburg State Normal School in 1901 and Dickinson College in 1907. He is survived by a son, George L. Briner, 126 Parker St., Carlisle; a brother, J. Frank Briner, Sr., Lexington, Mass.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Doughas (Elizabeth) Rankin, Zweibrucker, Germany; a great-grandson, Todd D. Rankin."

[51860] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 18 October 2022": "Winter Harbor - Richard E. Gerrish passed peacefully in his home at Winter Harbor, Maine, October 14, 2022, at the age of seventy-seven. Richard was born at MDI Hospital, Bar Harbor, Maine, August 8, 1945. He was raised in the town of Winter Harbor, where he raised a family of his own. He was a devoted family man to many generations. Some of his fondest recollections are the days of hunting with his boys and attending their ball games - he spoke often that they were his most treasured memories. He shared his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, following their many activities. Richard dedicated more than 60 years of his life to the volunteer fire service in addition to his time spent as a federal firefighter and EMT. He was an inspiration to many up-and-coming fire fighters and EMTs. He was very involved in the annual Winter Harbor Lobster Festival and Trade Day throughout his years. Richard was a devoted Mason and treasured that brotherhood. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Alta Laura (Myrick) Gerrish; and sister, Barbara Lilly. He is survived by his two sons, Brian Gerrish and Wesley Gerrish; daughter-in-law, Victoria Gerrish; brother-in-law, James Lilly; nieces, Cathy Carruthers, Susan Campbell and her husband, Wayne Campbell, Lesli Gerrish and Sarah Bagley; grandchildren, Ryan Gerrish and his partner, Taylor Trombley, Gabe Gerrish and his partner, Lance Days, Dylan Gerrish, Kristen Gerrish, Keira Eschete, and Logan Leighton; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Kidder, Jace Gerrish and Bryson Gerrish; great-niece, Laura Carruthers Mahon and her husband, Bobby Mahon; great-great-nieces, Madison Mahon and Mackenzie Mahon; close friends, Peggy and Dick White, Robert Webber, Barbara Jean Bragdon, Tatum Mclean, Danielle Leighton, and many of his brothers in the masonic lodge, and brothers and sisters in the fire/EMT department."
