[58174] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor,Maine]," 10 December 2024: "Ellsworth - Marcia Morrison Keenan went home to be with her Lord on December 4, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Ellsworth. She was born in Bangor the daughter of Darwin and Abbie (Hooper) Morrison on September 29, 1945, and lived a life of excellence, selflessness, and uncommon commitment to making the lives of those around her better. Her early years were spent growing up on the beautiful Maine coast, which she cherished. Trips to Winter Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and especially the camp at Molasses Pond were things to not only be enjoyed, but shared, and she did so with gusto. Her older brother, Darwin (Bud) Morrison Jr. and younger sister, Patricia (Patty) Morrison Boles, were willing playmates/accomplices/ in all sorts of fun and mischief. In addition, Jill (Lunt) Pimental and Mary (Donnell) Townley were lifelong friends and partners in crime. Despite her good nature and fun side, Mom was an outstanding student. (something that skipped a generation) She attended schools in Ellsworth, finishing as Salutatorian of her graduating class of 1963. While in High School, she started a 51-year career working at the family car dealership, Morrison Chevrolet. She won numerous awards from GM and Chevrolet, and she was recognized in her community with the Employee of the Year from the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce in 2007. After high school, Marcia attended the University of Maine at Orono. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Bob Keenan. The first time she saw him, she said, 'I'm going to marry him some day.' This occurred on January 9, 1965, they would spend 30 wonderful years together until our dad's tragic passing in 1995. Together, they would have three children, Sean and wife, Pam, Scott, and Patricia Jill 'PJ'. To say that this lady was a good mother is like saying Larry Bird was just a basketball player, it really doesn't begin to tell the whole story. Her patience, kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, and unconditional love were evident for all to see. The behind-the-scenes thoughtful gestures, and words of wisdom will live in our hearts forever. Her role as Mother was her greatest joy, that is, until she became a grandmother, and great-grandmother!!! Her grandchildren, Katie, (Sam), Amy, (Jake), Kyle, Jacob, Liz, and Abbie were true treasures to her. Ellie and Caleb, her great-grandchildren, were icing on the cake. Grammy K will always be held in the highest regard wherever they shall go and whatever they shall do. In addition to her family and work roles, Mom was an active member of Eastern Star for 25 years. She served on the local advisory board and state executive committee for the Rainbow Girls for over 30 years, and was the State of Maine Advisor of the Year in 2012. Marcia is survived by her children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and special sister and best friend, Patty Boles (Fay); special sister-in-law, Janice Pearson; two special brothers-in-law, Jim Kennan and Ernie Keenan (Diane); sister-in-law, Teresa Morrison; numerous nieces and nephews, including her namesake, Marcia Boles Jude; and special friends, Jill and Mary, Jeri Holt, and Z. Special thanks to a great friend, Darlene Bearse, who made it possible for Mom to stay in her home the last few years of her life. For this, we will always be grateful. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Bob; older brother, Bud; brothers-in-law, Ron Keenan and Dolor Pearson; sisters-in-law, Peg Richards, Julie and Terry Keenan; and stepfather, Jazz Holt. The family would like to invite you to celebrate the extraordinary life of this woman who loved collies, black cats, doing crossword puzzles in pen, canasta, being the Scrabble queen, the Red Sox, Celtics, and all things Christmas.
