[49487] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 16 February 1950", p. 18: "Jonesport - Capt. Henry E. Beal, 89, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lester H. Leighton. Son of Joseph A, and Lois Norton Beal, he was a lifelong resident of the town. He was well known along the coast in his activities in the weir and fishing industries, also as captain of the schooners Little Sadi,e Helen Maria, Egg Rock, Rush Light and Triton. He owned the first motor driven boat in town. He was a member of the Reformed Baptist church, Jonesport lodge F. & A. M. and a charter member of Moose-a-Bec lodge, Knights of Pythias. Surviving are four sons, Arthur of White Head, George of Jonesport, three daughters, Mr.s Gertrude Calor of New Castle, N. H., Mrs. Ema Martin of Groton, Mass., and Mrs Viola Leighton of Jonesport; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren."

Born in Gratz, Jan. 29, 1927, he was a son of the late Fred and Jennie Hartman Shade. He was a carpenter for Kocher Coal Co., Valley View, until retiring. He was a member of Simeon's Lutheran Church; a life member of Gratz Fire Company; a social member of VFW Post 2385, Gratz; and a member of Lykens Valley Hunting Camp, Driftwood. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Stutzman; three sons, James, Herndon, Larry, Gratz, and Dale, Mechanicsburg; two sisters, Anna Shade, Elizabethville, and Darlene Starr, Boiling Springs; two grandchildren."
