The first schoolmaster in the village, James Whitelaw, for many years "taught in the home of William Conner, as early as 1785 and as late as 1791." {-"Penobscot Bicentennial" [booklet], p.31} John and Elizabeth had a large family; the children listed here are those whose names were remembered by Fred S. Conner in 1938 and Ardelle M. Conner in 1932 (in a letter to her niece Luena) - they are not listed in birth order. William's death is reported in the "U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules, 1850-1885" (Page: 2, Line: 1, Roll: 32145_222225. Archive Collection Number: 2) where he is listed as a seaman and as having died of consumption.

Margaret's ancestry is from the unverified Hubert Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2011.
An unverified file in Ancestry.com in 2011 offers:
"John Camoys married Margaret, daughter and heiress of Sir John de Gatesdene. John subsequently "made over by deed to Sir William Paynell, whose wife she was then called..."
"There must be an incredible story here. Infidelity was not unheard of, but to deed over a wife with no attempt at dissolution of the marriage was unheard of. A man would usually pack his wayward wife away to convent.
"In 1289, John Camoys further granted to Paynell all the lands he held in Sussex in right of his wife for a term of 100 years, i.e. for his own lifetime. Despite being a significant landholder, John seems to have had significant debts and sold large tracts of land during his lifetime. Margaret was able to gain control of her dowry from John. There is no apparent record of how amicable that transaction was.
"Margaret outlived John and under this deed claimed on his death her dower of one third of his estate, but this by judgement by Parliment, 29 and 30 ED.I (1301-2), was negatived on the ground that a husband's deed could not legalize adultery. After her husband's death, she obtained license on paying the King 100 marks, to marry whom she pleased, whereupon she married Sir William Paynell, finally making the arrangement legal. Paynell's arms were "argent 2 bars sable between 7 martlets gules, 4, 2 and 1."

The unverified McMullen Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2014 states Nicholas m. Mary 1 March 1640 in Hartford and provides his ancestry.
A note in Ancestry.com states: "Nicholas Disborough of Hartford in New England was strangely molested by stones, pieces of earth, cobs of Indian corn, etc., falling upon and about him. . . . The molestation began soon after a controversy arose between Disborough and another person about a chest of clothes." This is from "Entertaining Satan: Witchcraft and the Culture of New England" by John Putnam Demos, at page 293, published in 1983 by the Oxford University Press. Nicholas Disborough is counted among the first Puritan settlers of the Colony of Connecticut.
