[46488] "The Akron Beacon Journal [Akron, Ohio], 28 March 1968," p. 89: "Bath - Mrs. Celeste Alexander, 86, owner and operator of Alexander Health Foods Store in downtown Akron for many years, died Wednesday after a three-week illness. She resided at 4850 Bath rd. Born in Bath Twp., she was graduated from old Bath High School and taught for seven years in Springfield, Bath and Richfield schools. She and her husband, John R., a cabinet maker, moved to Akron in 1917. She was active in the Home and School League, serving as a director of the North High unit. She began the health foods business in 1938. The store is still operating, under different owners, at 278 S. Main st. Mrs. Alexander was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Church and the Bath Grange. She was a life member of the National Health Federation. Besides her husband, she leaves son Donald W., Akron; daughter Margaret, at home, and two grandchildren." Celeste is daughter of Colvenus Snyder (1851-1928) and Emma Matilda Serfass (1858-1933).
