"History of the Town of Hampton, New Hampshire: From Its Settlement in 1638, to the Autumn of 1892." by Joseph Dow & Lucy Ellen Dow (Salem press publishing and printing co., 1894), p. 586 reports she is daughter of Francis Asten [sic] who had a grant of land in Hampton, NH 30 June 1640 and who d. by 13 July 1642 when a grant was made to his widow, Isabella, "daughter of John Bland (sometimes called Smith)."

"Entertaining Satan:Witchcraft and the Culture of Early New England," John Putnam Demos (Oxford University Press - 1982 Chapter 10): Several years later Hampton undertook its third, and last, prosecution for witchcraft. Interestingly, Eunice Cole was no longer the leading figure; other women had now been pushed to center stage. The case began with the death of a little child -- Moses Godfrey, age fifteen months -- in July 1680. A jury of inquest found "grounds of suspicion that the said child was murdered by witchcraft. Naming no names, the jurymen nonetheless alluded to "a party suspected," and the following day the court took bond from one John Fuller to guarantee that "Rachel, his wife, shall appear . . . to answer what shall be charged against her in point of witchcraft.
In fact, the suspicious death of the Godfrey child was not the only count against Goodwife Fuller. Various personal testimonies portrayed her as a generally eccentric figure. Often she had played the role of an expert on witchcraft, describing "how those that were witches did go abroad at night." Once she had named "several persons that she reckoned as witches and wizards in this town. (Her list included Eunice Cole.) On another occasion she bad told a neighbor of "a great rout at Goodman Roby's ... when [witches] had pulled Doctor Reed out of the bed, and with an enchanted bridle did intend to lead a jaunt.(99) Moreover, she had specifically advised the Godfrey family to "Lay sweet bays under the threshold; it would keep a witch from coming in." As things turned out, this procedure served to implicate Rachel herself:
A second person was charged as a witch that summer at Hampton. Isabella Towle by name, she was a woman in her late forties, married, and the mother of nine children. Her husband, Philip, was first a seaman," and later a "yeoman" of average position in the community. Beyond this the record does not speak. Particularly unfortunate is the lack of any material on the substantive charges against Goodwife Towle. All that survives is a court order, from September 1680, that "Rachel Fuller and Isabel Towle, being apprehended and committed upon suspicion of witchcraft . . . still continue in prison till bond be given for their good behavior of £100 apiece, during the Court's pleasure. Both defendants were discharged in the following year.
(This woman was born Isabella Austin, dau. of Francis and Isabella [Bland] Austin, in about the year 1633. Her father, an early resident of Hampton, died in 1642, and her mother was remarried thereafter to Thomas Leavitt. The Bland connection, on the mother's side, was a distinguished one: "Mr." John Bland was an early and prominent settler of Martha's Vineyard. Moreover, Thomas Leavitt was a man of considerable stature within Hampton itself. Isabella Austin married Philip Towle November 19, 1657. Towle's origins are not known, though local tradition makes him out an Irishman. He arrived in Hampton just a short while before his marriage. Philip and Isabella [Austin] Towle had children: Philip (born 1659), Caleb (born 1661, killed by Indians 1677), Joshua (born 1663), Mary (born 1665), Joseph and Benjamin (twins, born 1669). Francis (born 1672), John (born 1674), Caleb (born 1678). Philip Towle died in 1696, aged about eighty; his widow died in 1719. Rodulfus Glaber names 'Rainaldus' as one of the sons of 'Willemus, Henrici ducis priuignus, Adalberti Longobardorum ducis filius' & his wife. His mother's name is confirmed by the charter dated 1029 under which 'Reinaldus comes filius Ottonis cognomento Vuilelmi . . . Yrmengardis coniugis' donated property 'ecclesiam sancti Nicolai vallis iuxta Poliniacum' to Cluny, confirmed by 'Rodulfus rex'. The Chronicle of St Bénigne de Dijon records a donation by 'Otto comes cognomento Willelmus' with 'filii eius Rainaldi' dated 1004 'pro anima Hinrici Ducis, qui eum loco filii adoptavit et genitricis sue Gerberge uxoris predicti Ducis, ac filii sui Widonis et Hermintrudis coniugis'. 'Otto comes et uxor mea Adila' donated property to Saint-Vincent de Mâcon by two charters dated to 1015 or before (during the reign of Robert I King of France) both subscribed by 'Rainaldi filii sui'. He succeeded his father in 1026 as Renaud I Comte de Bourgogne, although at that time the 'county of Burgundy' did not yet exist as such, the title being purely descriptive of the area in which Renaud exercised his power. The Chronicle of Saint-Bénigne, interpolated into the Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines, records that 'filius eius [=comes Otto Guilelmus] comes Rainaldus' succeeded his father in 'terram ultra Sagonnam' dividing the territory with his nephew 'filius alterius filii eius Guidonis, alter comes Otto'. Guillaume de Jumièges records that comte Renaud was imprisoned by Hugues Comte de Chalon but released with help from his father-in-law Richard II Duke of Normandy, dated to 1026. Renaud supported Emperor Konrad II in the latter's struggle with Eudes Comte de Blois for control over the kingdom of Burgundy after the death of the last King Rudolf III in 1032. 'Raginaldus comes comitis Guillelmi filius' donated property to the abbey of Flavigny by charter dated 18 May 1037 subscribed by 'Iudid comitisse uxoris eius, Guillelmi filii eius, Hugonis filii eius . . . '. Emperor Heinrich III defeated Comte Renaud in battle after the latter besieged Montbéliard, forcing him to swear allegiance to the Comte de Montbéliard at Soleure in 1045.

'Otto comes qui nominatur Willelmus' issued a charter dated 2 Nov 1023 subscribed by 'Raynardi comitis, Adheleydis uxoris eius'.

[72] Joseph's will, entered for probate 23 Feb 1689, was made 29 Dec 1688; he is "of Calvert County, Maryland"; in addition to the children listed here, he names two sons-in-law, Joseph Brown and James Clifford; he also names his wife, Mary. Probate records, Liber 11B, folio 13 in the Maryland Hall of Records shows an estate inventory for Richard Isack, "late of Baltimore," with a value of 28 pounds and 2 shillings; I presume that he is kinsman of Joseph; Joseph spells his own surname "Isacke" in his will. Joseph and his brother, Captain Edward Isaac, were said to have been English army officers sent to the colonies with Scottish prisoners of war. ("Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Maryland, Pedigrees of Members, 1905-1939," p. 11 lists him as a qualifying ancestor.) They remained in Maryland. Captain Edward Isaac m. Jane Sutton and Joseph m. Margaret who was a widow and had sons by the names of Brown and Clifford. Richard Isaac is in Baltimore Co. by 1692 as a taxable in Northside of Gunpowder Hundred, and died by 24 May 1700 (estate inventory by William Peckett and Henry Wriothesley - Balt. Co. Taken from the Herman Reemnsyder Family History 1742-1908 book:
Born in Altoona Germany to John and Catherine Riemenschneider about 1742. Herman left Germany in order to escape being drafted for the Seven Years' War. He arrived at Philadelphia at about 18 years of age and began work as a cabinet maker. How o\long he stayed at Philadelphia and worked at the trade is unknown. He left there and went further west and located in Chester County, Pennsylvania. After staying there a little while, he went to Lancaster County, Pa. and there followed his trade. at the outbreak of the Revolution he enlisted in the service. He may have fought in the Battle of Brandywine. The story goes that while Herman was on his way from Branywine to the hospital, he with the other men stopped at a watering place to give the wounded soldiers and horses some water. At this place, Margaret Anne Musser, then a young girls, waited upon Herman. This was the beginning of the love story which followed and finally consummated in marriage. After he left the hopsital he made it his business to hunt up Margaret and after a brief period of courtship they were married. ( This story is hard to confirm.) Further stories told among the relative give Herman credit for building the church in his community and also the first substantial house. It is known that he followed the work of building houses and he also engaged in framing.
There is a small stone about ten inches square and about eighteen inches high placed at the head of his grave. This is a red sand stone and the inscription on it is so weather beaten that it can no longer be read. Dr. James Reemsnyder, of Hinkletown, Pa., has a chest in his possession which is the handi-work of Herman. This chist speaks of the work of a master mechanic.
It appears that Herman retained the original spelling of his name during his military career, but some time between that and the christening of his first child, it had undergone a change from Riemenschneider to Reemsnyder.

He was born Sept. 26, 1903 in Mansfield, and lived here until 1950. Mr. Sturgeon was a retired owner and operator of many businesses in Florida and a former member of the First English Lutheran Church of Mansfield. Surviving are one son, Larry of Cupertino, Calif.; two daughters, Marilyn Sturgeon of Miami, Fla., and Carol Sammons of San Jose, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild."
