He was born May 9, 1905 at Brooklin, the son of Delmont and Albina (Huff) Carter. A lifelong resident of Brooklin, Earl worked as a migratory farmer and woodsman throughout New England. He spent several summers on the Rockefeller Estate in Bar Harbor as a landscaper and mechanic for the first fleet of Rockefeller vehicles. From there he was commissioned to work on the now famous Carriage Roads of Acadia as a laborer. After his retirement his passion was his garden and his woodpile. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gladys (Cousins) Carter of Brooklin; one son Linwood Carter and his wife, Betty of Brooklin; one daughter, Beatrice A. Spaulding and her husband, Harold of Bangor; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kenneth Carter of Brooklin; six grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and five great-great-grand-children. He will be fondly remembered by a special friend, little Sarah, who brought him great joy before his death. He was predeceased by a son, Kenneth." Earl is son of Delmont Lewellyn Carter (1871-1956) & Albina Susie Huff (1875-1920; m. 30 September 1896 in ME).
