[41592] "The Perry County Times [New Bloomfield, PA], 8 August 1935," p. 8: "Mrs. Sarah E. Stuber died at her home at Saville, Perry county, Saturday afternoon after a lingering illness of about one year's duration, aged abont 75 years. Mrs. Stuber underwent an operation in the Lewistown Hospital last winter and for a time her condition was somewhat improved. In the early summer her condition grew worse and despite all the efforts of a loving family and the painstaking physician she passed to the great beyond as above stated, exactly nine years after the death of her husband. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. E. Towsey, of Port Royal; Mrs. Stanley Hench, of Kistler, and one son, Omer Stuber, at home. She is also survived by two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held in the Reformed Church at Saville Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock and interment was made in the Buffalo cemetery."

[13549] Charles and his family are listed in the 1920 federal census of Ringgold, Jefferson Co., PA - John H Dobson, age 65, is in the household (perhaps Minnie's father). The unverified Sargeant Famly Tree in Ancestry.com in 2016 offers: "When Charles Emerson Smathers was born on September 10, 1866, in Ringgold, Pennsylvania, his father, John, was 38 and his mother, Anna, was 37. He had seven brothers and two sisters. He died on October 6, 1956, in his hometown, at the age of 90." "The Jeffersonian Democrat [Brookville, PA], 11 October 1956," p. 2: "Charles Emerson Smathers, a retired Ringgold township farmer, died Saturday, October 6, in his home 26 days past his 90th birthday anniversary. Born in Ringgold township, Jefferson county, on September 10, 1866, he was the son of John and Ann (Jones) Smathers. He was married to Minnie Dobson Lingenfelter, of Worthville. Children surviving are Ross Smathers, of Ringgold; Doris, wife of Ralph Monis, of New York; Geraldine, wife of Roy Palumbo, of Reynoldsville, and Marie, wife of Frank Reed, of Punxsutawney R. D. His wife, two sons and three daughters preceded him in death. Survivors include 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren."
[39907] The unverified Bengston Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2015 offers: "William Smead was born in 1624 in Essex. He married Elizabeth Lawrence on December 31, 1658, in Dorchester, Massachusetts . . . He died in 1703 in Deerfield, Massachusetts, having lived a long life of 79 years. Elizabeth Lawrence was born in 1635 in Hingham, Norfolk . . . . She died on February 29, 1704, in Deerfield, Massachusetts, at the age of 69, and was buried there." Find A Grave memorial 39582449 states William was b. in 1635, son of William Smead (1600-1635) & Judith Stoughton (1599-1639), and offers: "He served in King Philip's War and participated in the Falls Fight under Capt.Turner. His son William was killed at Bloody Brook with Capt.Lothrop. William Smead was the son of William Smead (d.c1634) and Judith (Stoughton) Denman Smead (1599-1639). Judith was the widow of John Denman, with whom she had two children. William was only three or so when his father died. Judith sailed from Gravesend with her three children on September 3,1635 on the ship 'Dorset'. They stopped in the Barbadoes, then continued to New England. She settled with her children in Dorchester. She signed the Dorchester Church covenant in 1636 and was granted 20 acres of land there in 1638. About the time his mother died, William was apprenticed at age seven or so, to John Pope of Dorchester. Pope died in 1646 and made provision in his will for William, calling him 'my Littell boy.' He left to William his looms and tacking if William was willing to live with Popes widow, learn the trade, and become a weaver. He married Elizabeth Lawrence at Dorchester,MA on Dec 31,1658. Children: William Smead III, Elizabeth Smead Janes, Judith Smead Hawks, Mehitable Hull Smead Nims, Samuel Smead, John Smead, John Smead, Ebenezer Smead, Thankful Smead Hawks, and Waitstill Smead Warner. It has been suggested that he must be buried at Old Deerfield Cemetery since that was the only cemetery at the time. However, that is not always the case as many ancestors were buried on their homesteads at the time."
