[20149] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 5 January 2026: "Orland, Maine - Sharon Anne Bray of Orland, Maine, died December 19, 2025, on her 80th birthday. She was born December 19, 1945, to Richard Bray and Anita (Janes) Bray in Bangor. She attended Orland Consolidated School and Bucksport High School, graduating in 1964. She has family roots in Maine and the west coast of Newfoundland. She attended the University of Maine in Orono before transferring to Indiana University, from which she graduated from their renowned theatre program in 1968. At Indiana, she became heavily involved in the fight for social justice, from which she would never back down. She met her first husband, Douglas Clark, there. She would also go on to receive an M.S. from RPI. Sharon worked tirelessly to help establish H.O.M.E. in Orland. She went on to become a mother, childbirth educator, journalist, science writer, farmer, widely-published poet, fire department member, photographer, and founder of The Bucksport Enterprise. She was committed to leaving as little of a carbon footprint as possible, and she definitely did so, enlisting the help of her husband, Dick Hale of Castine, who passed in 2018. She lost her sister Robin Bray, in 2013; and leaves behind her sisters, Rilla Bray (Bob) and Candice Bray (Peter); brother, Richard Bray (Beth); daughters, Julia Gray (John) and Annie Clark-Ferreira; grandchildren, Juniper and Izzy; cat, Rosie; niece, Frances; nephews, Matthew, Nathaniel, and Josiah; cousins all over the world; and countless beloved friends."
