See the unverified file LHFH-JHZ in familysearch.org which offers: "When Ebenezer Downs Jr. was born in 1719, in Dover, Strafford, New Hampshire, United States, his father, Ebenezer Downs, was 30 and his mother, Elizabeth Hanson, was 31. He had at least 3 sons and 7 daughters with Jane Walton. He lived in Washington, Maine, United States in 1790 and Putnam, Lincoln, Maine, United States in 1790. He registered for military service in 1777. He died on 16 September 1803, in Steuben, Washington, Maine, United States, at the age of 84." and contains this note:
"BIOGRAPHY: New Hampshire Gen. Record Vol 6, #4, Oct 1909 pg 145-150 and Vol 7, #2, April 1910 pg 49-54 "Ebenezer4 (Ebenezer3, Thomas2, Thomas1), of Somersworth, Arundel, laborer; with father conveys all their land in Somersworth to James Pike 1755; 1755 buys land at Arundel; 1756 buys land at Coxhall (Lyman); 1777 with wife Jane both of a place called Number 4, county of Lincoln conveys land at Newington belonging to John Walton, father of Jane. He married Jane, daughter of John Walton of Newington."
Early Marriages of Strafford County New Hampshire lived in Arundal, ME.
Maine Familes in 1790, Vol 7 Prob the dau of Ebenezer and Mary/Molly (Willey) Downs of Steuben and Plt #14. Fanny's reported birth in Steuben indicates she was a grdau of Ebenezer and Jane (Walton) Downs. Knowledge of the families of their three sons is incomplete, but would accommodate her placement in each. However, of these three, only son Ebenezer is known to have removed to Plt #14, and another definitely did not. Ebenezer Downs had removed to Plt #14 by 7 Aug 1815 when he executed Wash. Co. Deed 6:453 and was enumerated in Plt #14 in the 1820 United States Census. Moreover, a known dau of Ebenezer and Molly, one Margaret (Downs) Bridgham, d in E. Machias 15 Oct 1874, ae 75y 2m 27d (BHM 4:196), which age calculates to a date within a few days of the reported date of birth of Fanny. Most likely they were twins rather than cousins. Fanny's dau, Fanny P. (as called on her gravestone), was listed on her birth record as Philena Leiton (Alexander VR, p50) suggesting that Fanny's proper name was perhaps also Philena.
