He was a graduate of Dickinson College (1905) and Boston University School of Theology (1908), and was an active Methodist pastor for more than forty years. "The Sentinel [Carlisle, PA], 12 February 1962," p. 6: "Rev. Andrew L. Bixler, 82, of 1339 West Main Street. Palmyra, graduate of Dickinson College and former director of religious education at the college, died on Saturday at his home. A retired Methodist minister, he had served congregations hi New England and Central Pennsylvania, retiring from Harrisburg's Ridge Avenue Methodist Church in 1950 after 44 years as a clergyman. During World War I, he served as an overseas Young Men's Chirstian Association secretary in France with the A.E.F. Immediately after the war he served one year as director of religious education at Dickinson College. He was graduated from Dickinson College in 1905 and Boston University Theological School in 1908. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity while at Dickinson. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Caroline M. Bixler; two sons, Andrew L.M., Miquon, Pa., and George W., Indianapolis; a daughter. Miss Olive L. Bixler, at home, five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren."

The widow of Leander Kinney, died 10-13-1970 at the residence of her son Philip Kinney of Mars Hill, following a brief illness. Mrs. Kinney was born in E Plantation 12-12-1898 the daughter of Philip and Lois (Hafford) Brewer. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Mars Hill, a former member of the Goodwill Club and a former member of the Farm Bureau Extension. Surviving are 6 sons, Burnes, Philip, Wendell and Wilmont, all of Mars Hill and Earl of Westfield, Merle of Hartford, CT., a daughter, Mrs. Adonis (Eleanor) Cheney of Rockland, 3 sisters, Lucy Dyer, Mrs. Raymond (Emma) Giggey and Mrs. Truman (Dorothy) Giggey all of Blaine, 31 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren. Burial Smith cemetery."
