Liston graduated from Bar Harbor High School and spent a number of years in the Bar Harbor Police Reserves and enjoyed being a gardener and caretaker on Mount Desert Island. On Jan. 25, 1980, he married Ann Walker, with whom he spent 33 years making a life. He is survived by his wife, Ann Higgins; his stepson, Steve Sumner of Manhattan, Kan.; his granddaughter, Brianne Sumner of Lamoine; older sister, Jesse Morris of Presque Isle; his brother, Leo Higgins; of Bar Harbor; as well as numerous nieces and nephews."
