[1731] "Ancestral Roots... (Balt., 1992), p. 207: "Note: as printed in the past, Bela I and Andrew I, brothers and successive Kings of Hungary, were shown as sons of Ladislas I, King of Hungary, by Premyslava, dau. of St. Vladimir, based on Table I of Baumgarten. However, the chronology can now be shown to be in error for Premyslava, and Moriarty's The Plangagenet Ancestry, p. 86, shows the brothers to be children of Vasul, King of Poland, dead 1038, by an unknown wife. Vasul was the son of Mihaly (Michael), a regent in Poland. Isenburg (1976 ed.) confirms all this (Table 104, Europaische Stammtafeln) and shows Michael as bro. of Geza and son of Taksony, d. 972." http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cousin/html/p115.htm offers: "Béla I, Király Magyarország was per Turton the son of Ladislas "the Bald" of Hungary and his wife, Premislava of Kiev. He was the son of Vászoly, Herceg of Northern Hungary and Katun Kometopoulos. He sought refuge in Poland after his father, Vaszoly, offended his greatuncle King Stephen, circa 1037. He married Rixa, Królewna Polska, daughter of Mieszko II Lambert, Król Polska and Richeza von Bonngau, circa 1040; 2nd cousins. He married Königin von Ungarn Tuta von Formbach, daughter of Graf von Formbach Heinrich I "Hesso" von Formbach; His 2nd. He was recalled back to Hungary following the disastrous reigns of Peter and Samuel Aba between 1046 and 1047. He was was lord of one-third of Hungary in 1048. [10938] Philip m. Marguerite of Flanders (d. 1405) and from them descend the Valois Dukes of Burgundy. Philip reigned as Duke of Burgundy 1363-1404. Marguerite was first married to Philippe de Rouvre, last of the Capetian Dukes of Burgundy (q.v.). Succeeding dukes made Burgundy the center of a powerful principality across northeastern France, and supported the English during the Hundred Years' War. They also had Antione, Duke of Brabant. http://gilles.maillet.free.fr/histoire/famille_bourgogne/duc_de_bourgogne states: "Philippe II le Hardi (1342-1404), fils de Jean II , Roi de France, et de Bonne de Luxembourg, Duc de Touraine (1360-1363), Duc de Bourgogne (1363-1404), Comte de Nevers (1384-1385), Comte de Rethel (1384-1393), Comte de Bourgogne, Comte de Flandre et Comte d'Artois, Seigneur de Salins (1384-1404), Comte du Charolais (1390-1404), Duc de Limbourg (1396-1404) ép. Marguerite de Flandre, veuve de Philippe I, Comtesse de Bourgogne, Comtesse d'Artois, Comtesse de Flandre, Comtesse de Nevers et Comtesse de Rethel, Dame de Salins, fille de Louis III de Mâle, Comte de Flandre, Comte de Nevers, Comte de Rethel, Comte de Bourgogne et Comte d'Artois." See Richard Vaughan's "Valois Burgundy" (Archon Books, 1975) for Philip's role in founding the dynasty, excerpted on-line in 2004 at http://employees.oneonta.edu/farberas/arth/arth214_folder/burgundian_expansion.html.
