[13735] "The Daily Item [Sunbury, PA], 8 July 1961," p. 7: "Mrs. Emma M. Haas, 87, a life long resident of the Klingerstown RD area, died at 8 a.m. Friday at the home of her son, Harry C. Haas, of Klingerstown, RD. She was in failing health for the past year. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ at Klingerstown RD. A daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine Schreffler Seiler, she was born in Klingerstown July 10, 1873. Her husband, Simon Haas, preceded her in death in June 1948. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs Charles H. Shaeffer, of Pitman; two sons, Harry C., with whom she resided, and Lloyd Haas of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m Monday in Salem United Church of Christ, with burial in the adjoinmg church cemctery in Klingerstown, RD. Rev. J. C. Glessner, of Leck Kill, her pastor, will officiate."

"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 7 July 1937, p. 33: "Castine, July 6 - Virgil Wardwell, 54, died last night in the Castine Community hospital, when he failed to rally after surgical treatment. He was one of a family of 13, and his death was the first one of the family. Mr. Wardwell, equally known in both Castine and Penobscot, was valued as a citizen, popular alike with summer residents and with those who make their permanent homes in the two towns. Born in Penobscot, for many years he has made his home in North Castine. He was a good workman. His wife, Mrs. Rose Wardwell, survives, as do five sons and one daughter - Virgil P. Wardwell, Jr. Clarence Wardwell, George Wardwell, Elmer Wardwell, Philip Wardwell, and Miss Mildred Wardwell. Five sisters and seven brother also survive: Mrs. Laura Dunbar and Mrs. Leila Leach of Penobscot; Mrs. Bert Bowden, Stockton Springs; Mrs. James Hatch, Castine. Mrs. Arthur Preble, South Weymouth, Mass., and Charles, Ray, Percy, Frank, Ralph, Augustus and Harry Wardwell, all of whom live either in Castine or Penobsot."
