Pipe Roll Society, 1958). p.143/4] has Hugh son and heir of Roger Bigod being granted the manor of Staverton by Hubert de Monchensi (Munchensy, Monte Caniso)."

Was a captain of the yeomanry militia. - History of Groton. Occupation: Blacksmith, Town Clerk, Justice of the Peace. He was ablacksmith by trade, and owned the mill in the south part of Groton, now within the limits of Harvard. It is said that a grant of land made by the town, about the year 1675, when it was much in need of a blacksmith, induced him to remove nearer to the village. He bought lands, until he became one of the largest owners of real estate in the town."
