Hoffmann, 72, of Orland, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018, at EMMC in Bangor, from complications due to pancreatic cancer. Robert was born on August 26, 1946, in Ulm, Germany, the first son of Hans and Klara Hoffmann. He and his parents immigrated to the United States in 1952, when Bob was six years old. They settled in Yonkers, New York. Robert became a United States citizen on October 28, 1969. Robert joined the United States Air Force in 1964. He met his wife, Donna Dunbar, while serving at Dow Air Force Base. Robert and Donna moved to Bucksport in 1969. Donna started a hair salon business while Robert attended Husson College until he graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1972. After 2 years with the Arthur Anderson Accounting Group in Massachusetts, Robert and Donna moved back to Bucksport and Robert opened the Hoffmann Insurance and Real Estate Agency, which he operated until retiring after more than 40 years. Robert was a member of the Mason Felicity Lodge #19, Bucksport, Scottish Lodge, Valley of Bangor, and Masonic Temple in Portland. Robert enjoyed traveling, visiting relatives in Europe, spending time with his grandchildren, boating, golfing, playing poker, and playing pool. He will be remembered for his unselfishness, kindness, optimism, infectious smile, and humor. He will be sadly missed by many. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna; his brother, Rudy Hoffmann; his sister, Rita Hoffmann; son, Randy Hoffmann; daughter, Heidi Coghill and fiance, John Robinson; granddaughters, Laura and Vanessa Hoffmann; and grandsons, Jacob Coghill and Ryan Robinson. Robert was predeceased by his father, Hans; and his mother, Klara."

Snorre records that the marriage of 'King Inge's daughter Margaret' and King Magnus was agreed at "'Konghelle on the Gaut river' under the agreement which settled disputes between the kings of Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Saxo records that her first marriage took place after the peace meeting between the three Scandinavian kings at Gotaalv in 1101, hence her nickname. Snorre names 'Queen Margaret, a daughter of King Inge, who had before been married to King Magnus Barefoot' as the wife of 'the Danish king Nikolas, a son of Svein Ulfson'. - m firstly ([1101]) Magnus III 'Berrføtt/Barfod/Barfot/Barefoot' King of Norway, illegitimate son of Olav III 'Kyrre/the Gentle' King of Norway & his mistress --- (-killed in battle in Ireland 24 May 1103). - m secondly ([1105]) as his first wife, Niels King of Denmark, illegitimate son of Svend II King of Denmark & his mistress --- (-murdered Schleswig 25 Jun 1134)."
