http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Drury offers: "Sir Robert Drury, (died March 2 1536), knight, (knighted by Henry VII of England after the battle of Blackheath, June 17, 1497) succeeded as Lord of the Manor of Hawstead, and with him began for the family a long connection with the courts of the Tudor sovereigns, and a succession of capable and eminent men whose careers are part of the history of this country throughout the 16th century.
An early reference to him is an indenture December 15, 1490 by which Robert Geddying, son and heir of John Geddyng, agreed with Robert Drury, esquire, for the erection of houses at Lackford, county Suffolk, Roger and William Drury being co-feoffees. He was named in many commissions in the county of Suffolk from 1486 onwards. Sir Robert procured from Pope Alexander VI a licence for the chapel in his house at Hawstead, dated July 8, 1501 in the tenth year of that pontificate. The original is now in the museum at Bury. He was present at the funeral of the young prince Henry in 1511, where, amongst the list of mourners, including Knights to bear the canopy, is to be found Sir Robert Drury. He was an executor of the will of John de Vere, 13th Earl of Oxford, who died in 1513. On the fly-leaf thereof are signatures of "Robertus Drury, miles" and "Willelmus Drury, miles." Between June 1510 and February 1513 inclusive he was engaged with various colleagues in the attempt to pacify the Scottish border by peaceful methods and to obtain redress for wrongs committed." His Will is very extensive and detailed and mentions "Robert Alyngton my daughter Ursula's son" as being under age at the time of writing. His son's William and Robert are also mentioned. Sir Robert Drury was a barrister-at-law, of Lincoln's Inn (1473), and a Privy Councillor for Henry VII. The site of his family's London home was in Drury Lane. For greater detail see the extensive entry in the "Dictionary of National Biography".
He is stated to be "Knight of the Body to Kings Henry VII and VIII, Knight of the Shire for Suffolk, Speaker of the House of Commons [elected 4th October 1495], and Privy Councillor" in the extremely well sourced "Plantagenet Ancestry" by Douglas Richardson, Baltimore, Md., 2004, p.276.
A pedigree showing the descent from King Edward I of England, and his wife Eleanor of Castile, to Anne Calthorpe, 1st wife of Sir Robert Drury, Knt., of Hawstead, Suffolk, M.P., and Speaker of the House of Commons, appears on page 43 of "Notes on the Families of Calthorpe & Calthrop", etc., by Colonel Christopher William Carr-Calthrop, C.B.E.,M.D., etc.,(3rd edition, London, 1933).

Two splendid books once owned by Sir Robert Drury have survived. One, a fine latin MS of the Vulgate, written by an English scribe early in the 13th century, is now in the library of Christ's College, Cambridge. Some blank leaves at the end have been used to record the marriages and progeny of the children of Sir Robert Drury. The first group of entries was made at the end of 1527; subsequent entries carry on the records of the growth of the family until 1566. The other book is the finest and most famous of all Chaucer MS, the Ellesmere manuscript of "The Canterbury Tales" now in the Huntingdon Library. At the top of a preliminary fly-leaf is written "Robertus Drury, miles", and below a list of his children: "William Drury, miles, Robertus Drury, miles, Domina [Anne] Jarmin. Domina [Bridget] Jarningham. Domina [Ursula] Allington." See: "Donne and the Drurys" by R.C.Bald (Cambridge University Press, 1959, pps:10-11.)
Sir Robert Drury's magnificent tomb can be found in the main processional aisle in St.Mary's Church, Bury St Edmunds , Suffolk.
Sir Robert's son, Sir William Drury, Knt., of Hawstead, M.P.,P.C.,(c1500-1558), married Elizabeth Sothill (1505-1575) a grand-daughter of another Speaker of the House of Commons, and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Sir Richard Empson, Knt.,(d.17 August 1510).

[56265] Paul's obituary: "Orrington - Paul J. Shumaker, 85, husband of Gladys (Parsons) Shumaker, passed away at his home in Orrington this past Saturday evening. He was born April 1, 1937 in Bangor, the son of Francis D. and Helen I. (Parker) Shumaker. Paul graduated from Brewer High in 1956. He served as a cook in the Army National Guard from '56 to'62 and he worked in the meat industry after school to retirement owning his own meat market from '73 to '87. During retirement he golfed, gardened and crafted gnome walking sticks which he donated to special fundraising causes. Paul played weekly penny poker for 60 years with many great guys over the decades beginning as the youngest and ending as one of the eldest players. Paul was also a member of East Orrington Congregational Church, EOCC, serving in the choir for many years. Surviving in addition to his wife, Gladys, of Orrington are three children, Eva M. Hopkins (David) of Ellsworth, Paul 'Joe' Shumaker (Mary) of Biddeford and Henry D. Shumaker (Cathy) of Holden; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who all adored him. His love, work ethic and smiles guided us all through our lives; one sibling, Louis Shumaker (Nancy) of Orrington; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Shumaker (Louisiana); several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by siblings, Irene Mills (Mandred), Don Shumaker (Mary Lee), Barbara Miller (Wally) and Roger Shumaker."
