"The Akron Beacon Journal, 28 March 1964": "Mrs. Eva Kathryn Sassaman, 47, of 207 Casterton av., active in church and women's organizations, died Friday in Akron City Hospital after a year's illness. She was a life resident of Akron. She attended King School and was graduated from West High School and the University of Akron.
Mrs. Sassaman was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and active in the Church School and Women's Guild. She also belonged to Delta Gamma Sorority and the auxiliary of Modern Woodmen of America. She leaves her husband, William O.; three daughters, Nancy and Beth at home and Mrs. Kathryn Shively of Akron; her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. J. Howard Hoffmeyer of Claremont, Cal."

She was born in Brooksville, June 6, 1899, the daughter of Charles and Abbie (Pert) Sanborn. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Yates of Blue Hill and Mrs. N. Margaret Andrews of Hollywood, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Weir of Orono; a step-sister, Mrs. Vivian Kelley of Hawthorne, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Mitchell-Tweehie Funeral Home with the Rev. Relland Clark of Blue Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Front Ridge Cemetery in Orland."

He was born in Richmond, Maine the eldest son of Richard A. and Gertrude M. (Moore) Strout. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Kathleen (Kay) A. Strout and parents. He is survived by his daughter, Amy K.S. Hogan and son-in-law, Richard W. Hogan, of Brunswick; son, Matthew A. Strout of Winthrop, sister, Phyllis S. Pushard of Bangor; brother, Richard A. Strout of Richmond, two grandsons, Patrick and John, and two nephews, Robert E. Pushard, Jr. of Dedham and Richard D. Pushard of Bar Harbor. Ralph graduated in 1950 from Richmond High School and earned a degree in Mortuary Science from the New England Institute of Anatomy, presently known Mount Ida College, in 1962. Ralph actively served in the U.S. Army as a corporal in the Military Police during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1954. Ralph was employed as a funeral director at Amesbury-White funeral home in Gardiner for over thirty years. Prior to working as a funeral director he also worked for the Boston and Maine Rail Road. Ralph was a member of the Masons, Village Lodge #26 in Bowdoinham."
