He appears in York, ME in 1663 as a witness in an assault case. There are more than 50 references to him in York, ME records. He was an Isle of Shoals fisherman, residing at York. In 1691 he was granted license to operate the ferry, provided that he maintained "a sufficient Boat to transport horse and man" - @ 2 pennies for a man and 4 for a horse.
