[29169] Christian Staub reports: "Emigrated from the Palatinate in Germany to America , probably Sept 23, 1766, on the ship Chance, Charles Smith, Master, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes. He settled in Chester County. There he married Catherian (Kulp, Kolb, or Cuthbertson??) from a family noted as a tall, hardy race of people. Subsequently he moved with his family to York County, and then to Spring Township in Perry County, and purchased the Gamber farm near St. Peters Church, part of which farm was later owned by Frederick Souder. There he spent the rest of his days. His body and that of his wife rest in the cemetery of St. Peters Church of which they both were members."
