Robert , Count of EuII. Robertus de Cruel, became the owner of Criel or Crieul , probably the present town of Creil which is situated on the Oise River about thirty miles north of Paris. He [served under William the Conqueror at Hastings] held , after the Norman Conquest of England , Esseborne (now Ashburnham) in County Sussex , under the authority of his kinsman , the Earl of {name chopped off by copy machine} , then Governor of the Rape of Hastings. Note: Apparently Criel, the town where Robertus originated, was changed in a later post (27 Apr 2002) to Criel-sur-Mer, Seine-Maritime, Haute-Normandy. Seine-Maritime is the modern-day department in the modern-day region of Haute-Normandy; but I express it as it was when the Norman Dukes of Normandy held it, which is Seine-Inferieure, Normandy. This does somewhat violate my rule as always expressing my place-names in modern geographical terms (when and if I can figure out where they really are)."

After selling The Senator in 1961, the Storey's moved to Raymond. They purchased hotels in the Portland and South Portland areas and Mrs. Storey always kept her finger in the pie. Mrs. Storey was also employed by L.L. Bean in later years, retiring in 1992. Mrs. Storey was an active volunteer at Maine Medical Center from 1966-1983, serving on the Women's Board and Treasurer of the gift shop.
