Almon is son of Holland Brown and Sarah Mix. For an article about Almon, see "History of Summit Coounty . . .," William Henry Perrin, ed. (Chicago: Baskin & Batty, 1881), p. 676. FindAGrave offers his obituary: "Almon Brown died at his home, No. 217 South Case Ave. in Akron. He had been in feeble health for some time. The funeral was held on April 3, 1889 at 2:00 P.M. at the family residence. Mr. Brown was born in Tompkins County, N.Y. and in 1816 he along with his parents, Holland Brown & Sarah Mix, and 6 more children came to Ohio, the transportation being by means of a sled drawn by 2 yoke of oxen, the stronger members of the family, which included Almon, walking the entire distance. The trip took 26 days. The cabin in which the family was reared was 20 square feet of round logs and had but one room in it. The cabin had Oiled paper windows, a board door made from from the sled box and a stick chimney. The family subsequently moved to Medina County and Mr. Brown was a residence for a number of years in Norton Township. Mr. Brown was engaged in carpentry for 20 years following his 1st marriage and wood turning in Norton Township. He moved to Middlebury in 1866, was Justice of the Peace in Middlebury, 1885-1888, Ward and Township assessor of 8 or 9 years, mail agent for several years, and Mayor of Middlebury for 2 terms, the last being during the vote to annex to Akron. Mr. Brown was elected Coroner of Summit County in October of 1872 and re-elected for numerous terms serving in that position until 1884. His first wife was Rosalinda Hinman, married Jan. 1, 1828. She died May 13, 1847. They had 5 children.
His second wife was Eva Ann Shively, married Sept. 9, 1847. She died June 17, 1857. They had 2 children. His third wife was Catherine Paulus-Reed, married May 13, 1858."

[51189] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 13 May 2014": "Brooklin - Richard Whitney Freethey, 63, succumbed to esophageal cancer May 6, 2014, surrounded by his family at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Richard was born Dec. 23, 1950, in Blue Hill, the son of William Robert and Frances Marian (Tapley) Freethey. He graduated as valedictorian from Brooklin High Schools Class of 1968. He spent three years in the U.S. Army in the early 70s, and afterward attended the University of Maine at Orono, graduating in 1976 (with highest distinction) with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He started his distinguished career in government procurement in 1976 after moving to the Washington, D.C., area, and served at various government agencies including the Government Printing Office, Housing and Urban Development, Office of the Secretary of Transportation, and starting in 1987, the United States Coast Guard (USCG). He was the chief of the Office of Procurement Management at USCG, and became the deputy head of contracting activity. He earned two masters degrees: one in public financial management from American University, and one in national resource strategy from National Defense University. Richard retired in January 2006 after nearly 33 years of federal service. When he retired, Richard returned to Brooklin, the town he loved, to enjoy his friends and family, and especially to spend time with his mother. He became an active member in the Brooklin community. He served as the president of the Brooklin Keeping Society, was an officer in the Brooklin Alumni Association and served on the Library Board. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, No. 133. He worked on various Brooklin town projects such as the Veterans Memorial and the Safety Committee. He was also a regular contributor to the Brooklin Times, sharing his knowledge of the town lore and his own personal observations on life. His interests included gardening, adding to his vast traditional music collection, reading, genealogy and historical research, and following the Boston Red Sox. He is remembered for his hearty laugh, warm heart and positive influence on others. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Diana Freethey of Brooklin; son, Ethan Freethey of Brooklin; daughter, Miranda Collins of Maryland; sisters, Melanie Freethey of Brooklin, Tammy Freethey Archer of Bucksport, Linda Freethey Gray of Blue Hill; brothers, Robert Freethey and Darrell Freethey, both of Brooklin; cousin, Steve Tapley of Kittery; along with numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of longtime friends. He was predeceased by his brother, William Edward Freethey of Brooklin."

After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, going to garage sales, and rooting for her native Minnesota teams. She was a religious, caring, and loving person, who will be greatly missed. She taught her children well and that love is the bond that holds families together. Dorothy was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Lester Tucker, and Debra and Thomas Cowell, all of Mansfield; three sons and daughters-in-law, David, Gary and Pam, and Mark and Diane Wharton, all of Mansfield; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Leo Berger; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry on Oct. 30, 2005; and one son, Richard. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park."
