Lieutenant, Grenadier Company, Royal Scots Fusiliers, 1702. Served in Jacobite Army, 1715; Captured at Preston, Imprisoned, and his Estates forfeited. His lands passed to a creditor, Rev. Ninian Home of Billie, who executed a new entail. Forfeited in 1715, and attainted of treason 17th September 1719. Died before February 1725. [Case on the Part of Sir Hugh Hume Campbell of Marchmont, Baronet, in relation to the Claim of Francis Douglas Home, Esquire, to the Titles, Honours and Dignities of Earl of Marchmont, Viscount of Blazonberry, Lord Polwart of Polwart, Reidbraes and Greenlaw. Presented to the Lords in 1843. Printed by Spottiswoode and Robertson, Westminster; pp. 76, with chart.] Sir George engaged in the cause of Prince [James Francis Edward Stuart (The Old Pretender)] in 1715, was taken at Preston, tried and condemned, but pardoned; his estates were confiscated, but having been mortgaged, and Ninian Home of Billie having bought up the debts, it was decreed that the Crown could not take possession of them, and thus Ninian got them himself.
