[3337] See "Medieval English Ancestors of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (Santa Clarita, CA, 2001), pp. 120-121 for an alternate and more probable ancestry for John! John was Constable of Chester and Baron of Halton and Pontfract; was a Crusader. He assumed the de Lacy surname of his mother in right of her first husband. Alternately, per Charles W. Browning, "Magna Charta Barons" (Balt.: Gen. Pub. Co., 1969, p. 108): "Lady Albrida, whose surname has not been preserved, the widow of Henry, feudal Baron Lacie, of Pontefract Castle, in Yorkshire, in the time of Henry II, married secondly, Eudo de Lisours, or Lusoriis, and had by him an only daughter and heiress, Albrida, or Iderta de Lisours, who married first Richard fitz Eustace, feudal lord of Halton Castle, and constable of Chester, and had by him a son and heir, John fitz Richard de Lacie, who inherited the baronies of Halton and Pontefract, with the constableship of Chester, and assumed the surname de Lacie...." http://www.mathematical.com/lacyjohn1154.html states he is John Fitzrichard de Lacy (Clavering) d. 11 Oct 1190 in the Holy Land and offers a somewhat different ancestry.
