He was born April 20, 1941, in Cambridge, a son of Levi and Mildred (Foster) Hanson. He moved to Dexter when he was 4 years old and graduated from high school in Dexter, Class of 1960. He served in the United States Air Force stateside during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1965 and was stationed in upper Michigan. After attending school in California, Gary was employed at Doyle & Carter Oil Company in Brewer. He worked as an insurance salesman for Prudential, and later was a car salesman at Brothers Chevrolet in Dover-Foxcroft and Hartley's Chrysler Plymouth in Newport. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter, as well as the Shrine, American Legion and the Masons. Gary enjoyed people and enjoyed helping with farming. He was a kind loving person, always willing to help others, always noted for his teasing personality. Gary was an avid snowmobiler and 4 wheeler. He built his house in 1982 and married Brenda in 1983. Together they raised 4 children. He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Arnold) Hanson of Ripley; 2 sons, Mike Breen of Westbrook and Jon and wife, Jen Hanson, of Palmyra; 2 daughters, Joni Boissonneault of Windham, and Stacey and husband, Kevin MacDonald, of Glastonbury, CT; a brother, Jay and wife, Earlene Hanson, of Winslow; and a sister, Joyce Jones of Madison; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren."

She was born in Brookton, ME., on October 21, 1932, the daughter of George A. and Lulu B. (Bragdon) Kinney. After graduating from Bangor High School in 1950, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, she received the Leslie Dickerman Scholarship to Husson University for academic achievement. She graduated from there in 1954 with a B.S. in business teacher education and she earned an MS degree in education from Boston University in 1957. Janet was inducted into Delta Phi Epsilon graduate honorary society and earned a certificate of advanced study at the University of Maine in 1960. She was awarded a doctor of philosophy degree from Walden University in 1974 in Naples, Fl. Janet was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Bangor, and taught Sunday school classes. She was a department head and professor in the office management department at Husson University for 41 years and was instrumental in developing the degree programs in court and conference reporting and information processing at the university. She was heavily involved in the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the process of gaining accreditation of the University. Dr. Kinney was a dedicated professor and Janet was the girls' basketball coach at the university from 1958 to 1961, and was inducted into the Husson University sports hall of fame in 1987 for her success as a basketball coach. Among her awards, Janet was selected as an outstanding educator of America and she was listed in Who's Who among American university professors. She was chosen as an outstanding alumna of Husson University in 1980. Janet had previously taught for the US Air Force Institute and John Bapst High School in Bangor, worked for the Hudson Group, Inc, and the Benjamin Cummings Publishing Company, editing college texts. She was a former member of the Eastern Business Teachers Association, the Business Educators Association of Maine, The National Business Education Association, the New England Business Education Association, and the American Association of retired person. Janet served on the advisory council of the business clerical program for the training and development corporation. She was a former member of Zonta International and Epsilon Tau Epsilon sorority of Husson University. While employed at Husson, she served on many college committees and was acting vice president of academic affairs and assistant to the provost. Dr. Kinney retired in 1998 and the board of trustees of Husson appointed her to the rank of Professor Emerita. After retirement, she became a member of the retired and senior volunteer program and as a retired executive volunteer consultant. Janet volunteered at the Penobscot Theatre, St. Joseph Hospital, Meals for Me, and the Good Samaritan Home. She was a member of Altrusa International and secretary to Epsilon Delta Alumnae. Janet spent many enjoyable summers at her Beech Hill Pond Cottage. Surviving are her special friend and caregiver, Carrie T. Murphy of Holden; Susan Hawes and her husband, Alan of Bangor; Roxanne Jack of Brewer; Heather MacLeod of Bangor and several cousins."
