[47118] Joseph was a railroad brakeman at the time of the 1880 federal census in Harrisburg, Dauphin Co., PA and r. with Lillie and their infant daughter Mary L. Downs in Lillie's parents' home. Joseph's 1921 death certificate states he was a railroad passenger train conductor and is son of Robert Downs and Elizabeth Owens. "The Selinsgrove Times-Tribune [Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania], 14 Apr 1921," p. 1: "Joseph O. Downs, well known to many travelers on the Sunbury and Lewistown division of the Pennsylvania System where he was a passenger train conductor for many years, will be retired on pension by that Company on May 9, at the age of 67 years after 49 years of service. Mr. Downs has been a resident of Milroy for some time past and has been conductor on the Milroy branch train between Milroy and Lewistown. He entered the passenger service.on the middle division out of Harrisburg and came to the Lewistown division following the great flood of 1889. He has been in poor health recently following a protracted illness and it is on this account that he will retire."

She was born July 4, 1942 in Bar Harbor the daughter of Norris and Dorothy (Watson) Gray. Pat graduated from Pemetic High School in 1960. On November 29, 1963 she married Cary N. Lewis. Pat went to work for Bar Harbor Bank and Trust Company where she stayed for 15 years and left to become a full time Mom to their son David in 1969. She enjoyed caring for him and when he went into high school she decided to go back to school pursue to a career as an LPN. After graduating from Hancock County Technical Center formally known as Boggy Brook School, Pat went to work at Mt. Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor and later at the Eden Surgical Practice. After over 18 years of service she retired. She was a member of the Southwest Harbor Congregational Church. In more recent years she volunteered at the Mirus Academy in Ellsworth. Pat enjoyed the children and they enjoyed her as well visiting and singing songs to her at her home. Pat is survived by her son David Lewis and partner Victoria Hamblen of Southwest Harbor: grandson, Parker of Sterling, VA: brother, Gary Gray and wife Judy of Orland; special friends and caretakers, Tammy Moore and Denise Perkins; and four nieces. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Carey Lewis."
