[45926] "Lewisburg Journal [Lewisburg, PA], 8 April 1904," p. 1: "Mrs. Amelia Stahl, widow of the late John Stahl, died at the home of her son Aaron C. Stahl, on West Market street, Sunday afternoon at three o'clock. Mrs. Stahl had enjoyed excellent health all the past winter until one week prior to her death when she contracted a cold and lagrippe, which terminated in heart failure and death resulted. She was conscious until Sunday when she went into a comatose state and when the end came she apparently experienced no pain. Death was like entering a sleep. Mrs. Stahl was a daughter of the late John and Catharine Kauffman, and was born in Buffalo township near Mazeppa December 18, 1816, attaining the age of 87 years, 3 months and 16 days. She was married to John Stahl, which union was blessed by two children, of whom only one, our townsman Aaron C. Stahl, survive. Another son died in infancy. Mr. Stahl died on Feb. 10, 1884, and ever since the mother made her home with her son. She was a resident of Kelly township for over forty years, living on the homestead farm. Several years ago Mr. Stahl erected a beautiful dwelling a short distance west of Lewisburg where they lived until last year when they became citizens of Lewisburg. Mrs. Stahl was a kind and much beloved lady by both old and young people. Since girlhood she has been a devoted member of the Reformed church, joining that denomination at Dreisbach's and later transferring her membership to the Mazeppa church. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, the services being held from the home of her son on West Market street, and was in charge of the Rev. W. W. Clouser, of White Deer, vho had been the pastor of the deceased for many years. Interment was made in the cemetery at the Mazeppa church."
