[31167] Ancestry.com offers: "Palmer Name Meaning - English: from Middle English, Old French palmer, paumer (from palme, paume 'palm tree', Latin palma), a nickname for someone who had been on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Such pilgrims generally brought back a palm branch as proof that they had actually made the journey, but there was a vigorous trade in false souvenirs, and the term also came to be applied to a cleric who sold indulgences."

Ruth's obituary: "Ruth Ann 'Perk' Lucas, 77, of Mansfield, died Thursday, August 16, 2007, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born September 28, 1929, in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Merle and Pearl Briner Perkeybile. A 1947 graduate of Mansfield Senior High, Mrs. Lucas was a registered nurse. She was a member of Easter Star, Mansfield Chapter #17 and enjoyed traveling with her friend Ursula, puzzles and playing cards. Surviving are a brother, Charles Perkeybile of Mansfield; a niece, Nancy Kulka of Mansfield; three nephews, Robert Perkeybile of Fort Recovery, Ray Perkeybile and Richard Perkeybile both of Mansfield; numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Jeanne Charters; and special friend Ursula Unterwagner of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd S. Lucas; a brother, Jack Charters; and a niece, Stephanie Charters."
