She was born at Blue Hill Oct. 7, 1918, the daughter of Ernest and Rena (Gross) Grindle. She was a member of the Congregational Church, Past Noble Grand of Rowena Rebekah Lodge No. 91, American Legion Auxiliary No. 69 of the Eugene Norwood Post, all of Southwest Harbor. Surviving besides her husband, Woodrow Herrick, are three sons, Richard of Milford, N.H.; Paul of Winstead, Conn.; Stephen of Bar Harbor; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Sherman of Brooklin and Mrs. Georgene Allen of Blue Hill; two brothers, Basil Grindle of Blue Hill and Gerald of Lynn, Mass., a half-brother, Cecil Grindle of Stonington; 11 grandchildren."
