Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery with military rites by the Allen Wright Hanft Post No. 100 of the American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. A memorial has been established. Mr. Bailey was born July 2, 1918, in Letts, Iowa, to William George and Nellie Lucille Paullins Bailey. He married Helen Jean Woodruff on June 22, 1940, in Kahoka, Mo. He worked as the store manager for the Economart grocery store in Columbus Junction for 33 years until retiring in 1981. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army from 1944-46 on the Hospital Ship Chateau Thierry. He was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church and the Allen Wright Hanft Post No. 100 of the American Legion. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Clark and her husband David of West Branch; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean in 1986, his brother Donald Bailey and longtime companion Patsy Fulton."
