Born in Blain, he was a son of the late Paul E. and Sara G. (Briner) Shreffler. He was the widower of Ruth L. (Lyons) Shreffler, who died Sept. 1, 1992. Mr. Shreffler was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a life-long self-employed poultry farmer. He was a bus driver and bus contractor for more than 40 years. He was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a former fire chief and lifetime member of Blain Fire Co. and Blain Ambulance Club and was a 55-year member of American Legion Post No. 232, Dry Run. He also was a member Adams Lodge No. 319 F&AM, New Bloomfield; Harrisburg Consistory; Tall Cedars of Lebanon-Juniata Valley Forest No. 88, Mifflintown; Wally Byam Caravan Club-International Central Pennsylvania Unit. He was a member of the board of Blain Senior Citizens Center; Camp Fairview; and was president of the meeting gang at the Blain Hotel. Mr. Shreffler was an avid baseball fan and an outstanding pitcher in his playing days. Survivors include two sons, Ronald P. Shreffler and Jerry W. Shreffler, both of Blain; a sister, Virginia B. 'Sis' Simonton of New Bloomfield; a brother, William W. Shreffler of Camp Hill; six grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren, a companion, Joan Stambaugh of Elliottsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Blain, with the Rev. Richard D. Schoenly officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Blain Cemetery."
