Born Sept. 3, 1893. in New Bloomfield, he was a son of the late Samuel J. and Mary Bailor Briner. Mr. Briner was a printer and owner-operator of The Independent Press, New Bloomfield, and previously was editor of the defunct Peoples Advocate and Press. He later helped publish The Perry County Democrat. An avid hunter and sportsman, he was a deputy game commissioner and assistant in the fish commission and an honorary member of the Waterford (Mich.) Gem and Mineral Society. He was a member of New Bloomfield Fire Co., Loyal Order of Mechanics, Lions Club and New Bloomfield Sportsmen's Association. He was also a member of Keboch United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by wives Jessie Rinehart Briner in 1949 and Doris Lepperd Matlack Briner in 1971. Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie B. (Mrs. J. A.) Ramer, Scotland, and Audrey (Mrs. Walter E.) Rice, Vero Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret (Mrs. Joseph) Doyle, Williamston, Mich. ; and brother, Frank, New Bloomfield."

[16529] Age 14 when his step-father and family were massacred, he was taken off Matinicus Island after some days by a passing schooner. He returned, but moved in 1769 to Green Island off the SW corner of Vinalhaven (then Fox) Island. He m. Dorcas Young (whose sister Susannah m. his half-brother, Ebenezer Hall, Jr. of Matinicus). Joseph and Dorcas had 14 children on the island and are buried there near their homestead. One correspondent claims he was b. 1745, posthumously.

[46390] The "Boothbay Register, 2 August 2019" printed Richard's obituary: "Richard Webster Haggett, 90, of Wells, Maine died July 30, 2019, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire following a brief illness. Dick, as he was known by many who knew him, was born in Boothbay Harbor April 13, 1929, the son of Gilbert Mather and Elizabeth Sarah Thomas Haggett, and is a graduate of Boothbay Harbor High School, class of 1947. He attended Bentley College, receiving a degree in accounting, then Suffolk University, where he earned his bachelors degree in business. After meeting while both attending college in Boston, Dick married Jeannette Davis Haggett on Sept. 8, 1951 at The Congregational Church of Wells. Dick and Jeannette then started their family in Massachusetts. In 1956 Dick joined Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Connecticut. Later he was promoted to United Technologies Turbo Power & Marine Division, where he stayed for 17 years, retiring as its comptroller. He served on the East Hartford Aircraft Federal Credit Unions Board of Directors for many years, and eventually served as its president. Choosing to retire early rather than move away from family, Dick and Jeannette decided to return to Maine and looked to Jeannettes hometown of Wells to make their new home. They quickly became active in town. Dick was a member of The Congregational Church of Wells, where he served as a deacon and volunteered with Soups On. He was also a member of the Maine Wheels RV Club serving on the parking crew at national conventions. They traveled the U.S. extensively camping or visiting 48 out of 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii. Dick was also active in The Trailblazers Club in Wells, and South Windsor, Connecticut Square Dancing Club. Dick served as an assistant Boy Scout Master for three years in South Windsor. Dick was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and loved attending NASCAR races in many states for several years. For nine summers Dick enjoyed working alongside his brother, Courtney, at the Maine State Visitor Information Center, giving guidance and advice to travelers. Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Jeannette Davis Haggett of Wells; a son, David Haggett and his wife Gwen of Oakdale, Connecticut; two daughters, Patricia Pappalardo and her husband Frank of Coventry, Connecticut, and Nancy Kirchner and her husband Ken of South Windsor, Connecticut; a brother, Courtney Haggett of Wells; three grandchildren, Mary Grace Miller and her husband Kevin, Emily Haggett and Anthony Pappalardo; and several nieces and nephews."

[48900] Arthur's obituary: "Arthur Amedee Price, 94, of South Portland, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born in Danvers, Mass., on April 22, 1913, the son of Hollis Mills Price, and Anna Melanson Price. He moved to this area as a young child, and attended schools in Portland and South Portland. Mr. Price joined the Naval Reserves at the age of 18, and served for 37 years. During WWII he was stationed aboard the troop ship U.S.S. West Point for 32 months, and sailed around the world four times during that period. He was then stationed aboard the cruiser U.S.S. Springfield when it sailed into Tokyo Bay with the U.S.S. Missouri in August, 1945. Mr. Price also served aboard the U.S.S. Tills and spent 10 months in Cuba during the Berlin Crisis. On March 22, 1941, Arthur married Madaline Edith Haynes of Northeast Harbor. He worked in the freight industry for 40 years, and had been employed by Chase Transfer, Merrill Transport, Haynes Express, and Hallamore Trucking. He was a retired member of Teamster Local #340, and was a retired member of its bowling team. He was also a member of the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation; Fleet Reserve #344; the Maine Charitable Foundation; the U.S.S. West Point Reunion Assoc.; and the U.S.S. Springfield Bluejackets, Inc. Arthur was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. He was predeceased by three brothers, Charles Price, Kenneth Price, and Harold Price. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Madaline Haynes Price of South Portland; two daughters, M. Patricia Esposito and her husband Neil of Portland, and Suzanne J.
