Bowden, 91, husband of the late Marsha (Cates) Bowden, died Jan. 5, 1980 at a local nursing home following a long illness. He was born in Orland March 21, 1888, the son of John and Carrie (Hutchins) Bowden. He lived in the Cutler area most of his life and was a fisherman. He is survived by one son, Carlton L. of Bethany, Conn; one daughter, Arlene Dennison of Cutler; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 7, at the Gardner Funeral Home, Machias, with the Rev. Steven Zarecki officiating. Burial will follow in New Cutler Cemetery, Cutler."
