She was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg, a past Sunday school teacher, a member of their Women's Missionary Society, the Homecoming Committee and the Willing Worker's Sunday school class. She was a 1941 graduate of the former Fannett Township High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin I. Alleman, who died Dec. 11, 2005. Surviving are three sons, Richard D. (his wife, Patricia) Alleman and Galen M. (his wife, Denise) Alleman, both of Newburg, and Randall E. (his wife, Beth) Alleman of Shippensburg; a daughter, Carol M. (Mrs. Wayne) Forrester of Chambersburg, seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister."

Born Dec. 13, 1914, in Carlisle, he was the son of the late George M. and Rachael (Weidman) Briner, and the widower of Genevieve W. Briner who died in 1992. A resident of Carlisle most of his life, he graduated from Dickinson College in 1937 and was a key member of Kappa Sig fraternity. He was employed with Harrisburg Paper Products, a career which spanned several decades. During World War II he was employed with the Pennsylvania Railroad as part of the war effort, an experience which led him to an intense hobby of model railroading with the HO and 0 gauges. He was also interested in travel and photography, which led him to Europe and the American West. He was a member of Cumberland Star Lodge 197 F&AM for more than 50 years. Mr. Briner is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth (Briner) and Douglas Rankin of Westerville, Ohio; a grandson and his wife, Todd Douglas and Barbara (Brenneman) Rankin of Seattle, Wash.; and a granddaughter, Kristina Lynn Rankin of Westerville. Mr. Briner was buried Thursday, Jan. 30, beside his wife in Westminster Cemetery, North Middleton Township, with the Rev. James J. Ferguson officiating."
