Jairus' dates are from Penobscot VR. Jairus m. Hannah Atkins 23 (?) Sept 1806. Jairus farmed on Lot 60 in the John Peters survey. He became owner of the site of Dunbar's Store at the Rts. 166/199 intersection, which he leased in 1856 to Taylor Wardwell for a store. In 1865 a Jairus Dunbar of Penobscot (Post Office address North Castine) was taxed $1.00 for a carriage valued at $60.00. In 1866, a Jairus was taxed $1.00 for a carriage.
