[8708] "The Perry County Times [New Bloomfeld, Pennsylvania], 15 April 1937," p. 4: "Charles H. Bower, aged 70 years, 6 months and 15 days, of Huntingdon, died in the Blair Hospital, Huntingdon, on Saturday, April 10, 1937, at 11:15 a. m. He had contracted a cold several weeks ago and a kidney condition developed which resulted in his death. The deceased was a son of John A. and Belle Sheaffer Bower and was born and reared at Bridgeport. Leaving home when a young man of 20 years, he was employed in Chicago, St. Louis, Mo., and Philadelphia, and since 1919 resided at Huntingdon, where he was employed by the Penn Central Power and Light Company. Mr. Bower was married to Miss Olie Amos, of Saxton, Pa. Following his father's death, they spent 1918 and 1919 with his brother, M. R. Bower, at the Bower home in Bridgeport. He united with the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in boyhood, attending Sunday School and church services regularly. At the time of his death he attended, with his wife, the Methodist Church in Huntingdon. He was a sober, industrious gentleman, a good neighbor and companion, whose many Perry county friends regret much to learn of his death. Surviving him are his wife and three brothers, J. N. Bower, Chicago; Harry Bower, Philadelphia, and M. R. Bower, of Bridgeport."

[2437] {Line from W.H.Turton,"The Plantagenet Ancestry" (Balt.: Gen. Pub. Co., 1968), p.181.} Hughes II married Ava (or Bava). He is probably the same person as the brother of the same name in this database. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cousin/html/p116.htm states he "was of the Etichonen House. He was possibly the son of Count Haicho, and thereby the great-great-grandson of Eticho vom Elsaß. He was possibly a nephew of Abbot Thetibalds von Ebersheim. Count of Orleans. Also called comte de Tours Hugh 'le Méfiant' d' Alsace. He was born circa 780. He was the son of Graf Haicho vom Elsaß. He married Ava, Gräfin von Tours before 800. He was an ambassador of King Charles the Fat, along with Bishop Heito von Basel and Aito von Friaul, to Byzantium in 811. He became closely associated with the Carolingian court when his daughter Irmingard married Lothar, son of Louis the Pious, in 821. He became associated with the Welf House when his daughter Adelaide married Konrad von Altdorf and became the mother of Count Welf I in 825."
