Janet was a teacher in th West Perry School District for 38 years. She started teaching at the one room Red School at Erly. Following that she taught at the Ickesburg School; Tressler Orphan's Home, Loysville; Green Park School; and retired from the second grade in the West Perry School District. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Shippensburg State Teacher's College. She was a life long member of Tressler Free Lutheran Church, of Loysville and was a member of its Ladies Aide; 50 year member of the Perry County Chapter 459 Order of the Eastern Star, New Bloomfield; Pennsylvania and Perry County Retired Teachers Assiciation and PSEA and NEA. Surviving are her loving husband of 62 years, John E.
