[51288] "The Ellsworth American [ Ellsworth, Maine], 21 November 2014": "Sedgwick - Lawrence 'Butch' Byard, 69, passed away Nov. 18, 2014, at his home. He was born Jan. 30, 1945, in Castine, the son of Ronald E. and Ethel (Herrick) Byard. Butch graduated from George Stevens Academy, Blue Hill, in 1963 and attended NMVTI in Presque Isle, studying auto mechanics. He worked for Dick Howard in Brooklin and later for Shepard Chevrolet and Genes Sales and Service in Stonington. He belonged to the Sedgwick Volunteer Fire Department and was always there for anyone who needed help. He cared for both of his parents in his home. He is survived by his wife, Saralyn Billings Byard; daughter, Miranda Byard; son, Matthew Byard; daughter-in-law, Kortnie; two granddaughters, Melanie and Leah Byard; sister, Sandra Byard Hill and husband, Dick; nieces, Allison Charles, Lisa Dauphinee, and Betsy Ladd and their husbands; grandnephews and grandnieces, Hazen Dauphinee, Nathaniel Ladd, Samantha Dauphinee, Amanda Ladd, Katherine Charles, and William Charles; sister-in-law, Noreen Dunham and husband, George; niece, Gale Boughman and husband; grandniece, Emma Boughman and grandnephew, Alex Boughman; nephew, Barry Dunham and wife; and grandniece, Harper Dunham.
