[22404] "Also known as SVATÝ VÁCLAV and Saint Wenceslas, he was raised a Christian by his grandmother St. Ludmila, but his ambitious mother, Drahomíra (Dragomir), a pagan, had her murdered and acted as regent herself, until Wenceslas came of age in 924 or 925. Her court intrigues and the wishes of the people to end the conflicts between Christian and non-Christian factions in Bohemia led Wenceslas to take the reins of government. As duke he was pious, reportedly taking the vow of virginity, and encouraged the work of German missionary priests in the Christianization of Bohemia. His zeal in spreading Christianity, however, antagonized his non-Christian opponents. Faced with German invasions in 929, Wenceslas submitted to the German king Henry I the Fowler. His submission provoked some of the nobles to conspire against him, and they prompted his younger brother, Boleslav (Boleslaus), to murder him. Waylaid by Boleslav en route to mass, Wenceslas was killed at the church door. Frightened by the reports of miracles occurring at Wenceslas' tomb, Boleslav had his remains transferred in 932 to the Church of St. Vitus, Prague, which became a great pilgrimage site during the medieval period. Wenceslas was regarded as Bohemia's patron saint almost immediately after his assassination. [31284] Find A Grave Memorial 22600442 offers: "Anne was the daugther of Thomas Brigham Sr. & Isabel Watson. On April 21, 1634 in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, York County, England she married Simon Crosby. To this union, 3 sons were born. In April 1635, the Simon & Anne and their children embarked on a journey to New England. Evidence suggests that their move was motivated by religious (rather than taxation) concerns. They joined a company of followers of Reverend Thomas Shephard who were leaving their roots in Essex, Yorkshire and Northumberland to establish a new home in America. They set sail on the 'Susan and Ellen' from London on April 18, 1635 and concluded the ten-week trans-Atlantic journey ended in Boston in July 1635. Simon held a number of public offices including selectman, constable and surveyor of highways in MA. After the death of her 1st husband, Simon, Anne continued to raise her children in Cambridge for another six years and then married Reverend William Tompson, a widower, and moved to Braintree, Massachusetts where Tompson was minister. The couple had one child of their own, Anne Tompson. In Reverend Tompson's later years, he was 'afflicted with melancholia' and did not work for seven years prior to his death in 1666. His disability left his widow in difficult financial circumstances."

[26635] In 2007 http://www.fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/DENMARK.htm offers: "Gunhild [Æthelfryth] ([1020]-in Italy 18 Jul 1038, bur Limburg Klosterkirche). Adam of Bremen records that the daughter of King Knud married 'imperator filio suo'. Her parentage is given by Orderic Vitalis, who also refers to her marriage. Wipo names 'Chnutonis regis Anglorum filiam, nomine Chunehildem' as wife of 'Heinricus rex, filius imperatoris' when recording their marriage in 1036. The Annalista Saxo records that the wife of King Heinrich III was 'filiam Cnud regis Danorum', specifying that the marriage was arranged by Unwan Archbishop of Bremen, although this seems unlikely as Archbishop Unwan died in 1029. Herimannus names 'Chunihildem, Cnutonis Danorum et Anglorum regis filiam' when recording her marriage to 'Heinricus rex, filius imperatoris' in 1036. She adopted the name Kunigund on her marriage. The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines records that 'uxor imperatoris Henrici Gunhildis imperatrix de Anglia' was accused of adultery, that she was defended in trial by combat, but that after her champion's victory she disdained the success and became a nun. William of Malmesbury also recounts that she was accused of adultery and retired to a convent. She died during her husband's expedition to Italy, the death of 'regina Conihild' being recorded in the Annalista Saxo 'XV Kal Aug'. m (Nijmegen [29] Jun 1036) as his first wife, Heinrich III King of Germany, Duke of Bavaria, son of Emperor Konrad II & his wife Gisela of Swabia (Ostrebeck 28 Oct 1017-Burg Bodfeld im Harz 5 Oct 1056, bur Speyer Cathedral). He was crowned Emperor at Rome 25 Dec 1046."

Henry Sherterly, a civil war veteran aged 80 years, who lived with a daughter two miles northwest of Edwardsburg, was found dead in bed from heart disease Wednesday morning. Mr. Shetterly for many years lived on the east bank of Juno Lake, near Adamsville, and had a boat livery there. He was well known to the majority of Elkhart fishermen. After his wife died a few years ago he spent much time in this city, most of it at the Central fire startion. Mr. Shetterly is survived by four sons, William, George, Amos and Lewis Shetterly, and two married daughters."
