Claudius I was poisoned in 54 A.D. by his fourth wife, Agrippina, mother of Nero. He was Roman Emperor from 41 to 54. His full name is Tiberius Claudius Drusus Nero Germanicus. He suffered a type of paralysis and was considered unfit for public service, but survived the purges led by his uncle, Tiberius, and his nephew, Caligula. When Caligula was murdered in 41, he was expected to be killed as well; however, the Praetorian Guard proclaimed him Emperor even as the Senate debated whether to restore the Republic. He proved to be a shrewd administrator, extending Roman citizenship and founding Roman cities in the provinces. This truly founded imperial power. He brought into the empire Britain, Mauretania and Thrace. Learned also in history, he wrote studies of Roman antiquities and had met
Livy. Two novels give the flavor of the man and his times, "I, Claudius" (1943) and "Claudius the God" (1935), both by Robert Graves. See http://www.roman-empire.net/emperors/claudius.html for more information.

[34994] This person is from the unverified Wood Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2013. "The Tampa Tribune, 9 May 1963," p. 3: "CLEARWATER (Bv Staff Writer) Harry W. Wood, 92, retired court reporter for the New York Supreme Court, died Tuesday at his residence, 400 Drew St. He was the first and oldest member of the Osceola Inn Retirement Home and was former vestryman of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shephard, Dunedin. He came to the area 20 years ago from Yonkers, N.Y. and was a former Dunedin resident. He retired in 1940 after working 43 years as a reporter for the Supreme Court of New York State. Survivors Include two sons, C. Van Ness Wood of Scarsdale, N.Y. and Fraser W. Wood, New York City; four grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Flory, Minneapolis, Minn." http://www.geocities.ws/Athens/Delphi/4083/DurlPed.htm offers: "Harry Wood was a stenographer for the New York State Supreme Court. He moved to NYC from Orange County to work sometime about the 1890s, where he met Henrietta Fraser. He was still a member of the Dutch Reformed Church of Deerpark (Port Jervis, Orange Co., NY) at the time of his marriage in 1898, since their December issue of "Church News" in that year carries an announcement of his wedding, describing him as a member and including the comment that he had at one time attended their "Sabbath School" for 10 years without missing a session! Harry & Henrietta lived in rented property in NYC until moving to 1 Delevan Terrace in Yonkers, NY in the early 1900s, where they raised two sons, Van and Wesley, and became prominent enough in the local 'society' for their activities to be noted in the local newspaper columns. They lived mostly in Yonkers, with temporary residences (summers?) in other NY and New England locations, including Manchester, VT to get the children away from an epidemic in NYC (yellow fever?). They also traveled extensively, especially on fishing trips to Colorado and to Middle Dam, Maine. Pictures and notices of this family are in a leather scrapbook kept by Henrietta (Fraser) Wood and now at the Wood family farm in Middlebury, Vermont. Later, they retired to Dunedin, FL, where both Harry & Henrietta died. They are buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY."
