Alison Weir, "Eleanor of Aquitaine" (NY: Ballantine, 1999), p. 416, states that he is Tortulf "the woodsman" (semi-mythical). For purported ancestry, see http://www.mathematical.com/anjoutertulle821.html
Some say he is son of Conrad of Burgundy, Count of Paris, but W.H.Turton, "The Plantagenet Ancestry" (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1968), p. 6, states that Hugues l'Abbi (d. 844) is father of Tertullus d'Anjou, and that Hughes l`Abbi is a son of Charlemagne and Regine. Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1956 Ed., 1:976: "...towards 861, Charles the Bald entrusted [the county of Anjou] to Robert the Strong, but he unfortunately met with his death in 866.... Hugh the Abbot succeeded him in the countship of Anjou as in most of his other duties, and on his death (886) it passed to Odo, the eldest son of Robert the Strong, who, on his accession to the throne of France (888), probably handed it over to his brother Robert. In any case, during the last years of the 9th century, in Anjou as elsewhere the power was delegated to a viscount, Fulk the Red, son of a certain Ingelgerius." [24371] living - details excluded
[54400] Birth date and place from Find A Grave memorial 19342134. She is said to be daughter of Hatsel Knowles (1742-1778) & Mary Freeman (1740-1790; m. 5 October 1765 in Eastham, Barnstable Co., MA).
Find A Grave Memorial 138104705 provides his children and offers:
William Masters Sr. acquired "Discovery," the plantation on which he made his home, on 12 December 1720 from Charles Beale. [Rent Rolls, 4: 406A, Maryland Archives] In the Rent Rolls [4:383] "Discovery" is described as being on *the north side of Oxon Creek.* "Oxon Creek is a cove on the Potomac River which straddles the border between Washington, D.C. and Prince George's County, Maryland just north of Interstate 495…." [Wikipedia, "Oxon Creek."]
In a deposition by Daniel Kelley in 1721/22, William's plantation is located at the *mouth of the Eastern Branch* (that is, the Anacostia River). [Prince George's County, Md., Land Records, I: 124-125 (6 June 1721)]
In William's deed of part of "Discovery" to William Jr. in 1755, "Discovery" is located on the *south side of the Eastern Branch of the Potomac River.* [Prince George's County Land Records, NN:342-343 (15 Feb. 1755)]
* This would put "Discovery" in the southeastern quadrant of present-day District of Columbia,* rather than in present-day Montgomery Co.
In 1765 William purchased a seat in pew number 7 in Addison's Chapel, a "chapel of ease" on the *Eastern Branch* created to permit worshippers to congregate nearer their homes and not have to travel to the church on Broad Creek, indicating that William Sr. still was living on "Discovery." [Vestry Records of St. John's Episcopal Church-Broad Creek, King George's parish, vestry records, vol 1, p. 94, copy received September 2001 from Jean R. Anderson, Parish Secretary.]
On your Find A Grave entry, you have William Sr., William Jr., Robert, and Robert's wife Mary buried at "Plantation Discovery" Dickerson, Montgomery Co., but "Discovery" was not at Dickerson. William Sr. and William Jr. died at Discovery-in present-day D. C. Is it likely they were transported up the river rather than being buried at Broad Creek Church where they were members?
The plantation that William Sr. gave to Robert was "Thorofare" or "Thoroughfare," the metes and bounds of which begin "bounded by a box Elder standing near the last end of a fair Island standing in potomack called Fair Island…." [Prince George's County Land Records, T:526-528 (15 Sept 1737)] This was in Frederick Co., most likely in the part that became Montgomery in 1776. Robert and Mary likely were buried there, but apparently there is some dissent on this? You write on Robert's Find A Grave memorial: "Records shows that he was buried in this cemetery ["Discovery"]. Until I find differently, I will keep him in this cemetery."
* I will be grateful if you would identify those records for me, as I continue to be interested in anything that will enable me to better document the Masters family.*
By the way, William Sr. could not sign his name. "W" was the mark he used, not his middle initial.

She married Russell Keith Brackett on 12 April 1958, in Maine, United States. She lived in Peru, Oxford, Maine, United States in 1940 and Canton, Oxford, Maine, United States in 1950. She died on 7 April 2004, in Maine, United States, at the age of 66, and was buried in Richardson Cemetery, Livermore Falls, Androscoggin, Maine, United States."
[7108] John was father of the wives of three of the sons of William Jewell. John was in Little Beaver Twp., Beaver Co., PA in 1810 (census), and appears to be the person named in tax records 1802-15 in this county. In 1820 John Tremains, Jr. is above age 45 in the census of East Union Twp., Wayne Co., OH. In 1830 he is in Baughman Twp., Wayne Co. "History of Woods and Lucas Counties, Ohio" in a biography of Samuel Jewell, 8th child of his daughter Mary, has a report that John Tremains (Samuel's maternal grandfather) lived to be 115 years of age, after enduring hardships including surviving a scalping by Indians. John does not appear in property, tax or probate records in Wayne County. {Research by W. H. Nolin.} cjones28@bellsouth.net posted on an Ancestry.com message board 17 Nov 2001: "My John Tremaines lived to be 115 years old and survived the scalping by Indians when he was younger. He had 3 dau's that married 3 Jewell brothers in Wayne Co., OH. My ancestor is his dau, Mary who married Samuel Jewell in Wayne Co., OH. Both are buried there, however Mary died in Anderson, IN and her body was shipped back to OH." The unverified Brown Family Tree states that John was b. about 1768 in PA and died in 1889 (Find A Grave states he d. about 1829) and that John m. Elizabeth ("Betsey") Judd Pegland (b. about 1775), and that John is son of John Tremains (b. 29 Dec 1747 in PA, d. 1829 in Ontario Co., NY) and Patrience Kellogg (b. 8 Oct 1749 in Sheffield, Hampshire Co., MA, d. 12 Ot 1829 in Cheshire, Ontario Co., NY) - none of this is documented and it appears that these are NOT parents of our John Tremains.
