"Elizabethville Echo [Elizabethville, PA], 17 May 1934," p. 1: "Preston John Artz died at his home at Gratz last Wednesday evening after a week's illness induced by a heart attack. His age was 85 years, 6 months and 23 days. Deceased was a son of the late Simon and Elizabeth (Stein) Artz, born in Hubley Township, Schuylkill County October 16, 1848. His wife, formerly, Miss Mary J. Stine, to whom he was married April 7, 1876 by the late Rev. Kehm, died about ten years ago. Mr. Artz was a member of Simeon's Lutheran Church of Gratz, in which community he had lived the greater part of his life. Survivors are two sons and three daughters: Daniel S. and Austin C. Artz of Lykens; Jennie, Mrs. D. George Moyer, Herndon; Ida, Mrs. Sylvester Hoffman, Lykens Township and Elizabeth, Mrs. Monroe Klinger, of Gratz. Other survivors are nineteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held from the residence at ten o'clock last Saturday morning. Rev. W. Z. Artz, pastor of the Lykens Valley Lutheran Parish officiated and interment was made in the Gratz cemetery."

Mr. Mervine was a member of Kimmel Lutheran Church, Ashland, R. D. Survivors include the widow, the former Alma Rebuck; two children, Rodger and Linda, both at home; four brothers, Earl and Gomer, both of Hegins; Clement, Williamstown, and Meivin, Tremont, and five sisters, Mrs. Ray Kissinger, Ashland; Mrs. Elmer Swinhart, Ashland, R. D.; Mrs. Guy Boyer, Steelton, and Grace and June, both of Hegins, R. D. 2. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 in Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, R. D. 1. Services will be continued in Kimmel Lutheran Church, Ashland, R. D. Rev. Frederick Erb, pastor of Hegins Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Evangelical Church Cemetery, Hegins."
