[5642] Almos and his infant son, Bela, were blinded by King Koloman (reigned 1095-1116) to secure the throne for Koloman's son, Stephen II (reigned 1116-31). [Koloman is nephew and successor of King Ladislaus I.] He was Duke of Croatia, presumably sent there by his father. http://www.thepeerage.com/p11458.htm reports "He married Predslava of Kiev, daughter of Svatopolk of Kiev , Grand Duke of Kiev, in 1104." [52003] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 27 August 2018": "Blue Hill - Glenice Elaine (Gray) Ellis, 94, passed away in her sleep on Aug. 25, 2018, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born on Aug. 10, 1924, in Brewer, the first child of Preston W. and Alice M. (Emery) Gray of Orrington. Following graduation from Brewer High School, Glenice attended business school in Bangor before beginning her career in the banking industry. She was employed by Merrill Trust Co. for many years and, subsequent to her relocation to upstate New York in 1967, by First National Bank of Glens Falls. At the time of her retirement from First National Bank in 1986, she was the manager of the banks transit department. Finding retirement an unsatisfactory pursuit, Glenice began a second career as a nanny for Supreme Court Justice David B. Krogmann and his wife, Barbara, of Glens Falls. For the next 12 years, she cared for their two children, Allyson and Grant, both of whom remained very dear to her throughout her lifetime. In 1999, Glenice returned to her home state of Maine, where she took up residence in Blue Hill. After returning to Maine, she enjoyed many years of friendship with her neighbors and acquaintances throughout Hancock County. She joined the Penobscot United Methodist Church, where she was a regular 'greeter and reader' as well as an accomplished cook for their many church suppers and breakfasts. Glennie was an avid reader and a faithful fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. She also shared with her son, John, a passion for NASCAR races. Many happy vacations were spent visiting her son, Joel, and his two children in Florida, where she indulged her beachcombing hobby and collected countless beautiful seashells. Glenice was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Wayne Gray and Frank Gray, and her son, Joel Ellis. She is survived by her daughter, Faye Candage, of East Blue Hill; her son, John Ellis, of Vietnam; sister, Mary Cranker, of Warrensburg, N.Y.; brother, Donald Gray, of Orrington; sisters-in-law, Doris Gray, of Milford, and Patricia Gray, of Orrington; as well as seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, and many beloved nieces and nephews."
